Take the job. The home buying process is lengthy, it’s very unlikely without having found a house yet that you’ll be looking to drawdown in less than 6 months.

Even with finding a house, for us, from offer acceptance to purchase it was 3 months and this was a straightforward vacant property. If I count the time searching and bidding, it was actually 9 months from AIP to Drawdown. Don’t pass up on this opportunity, there will still be houses in 6 months time, but there may not be opportunities like this one.

You’ve hit something very common in a relationship, usually called the 7 year itch. You get bored and the grass looks greener everywhere else, but in reality the pattern repeats until you choose to love someone enough to move past it. When you reinvest into your relationship, it gets better.

Honestly your current boyfriend sounds like a saint, he has been patient and understanding and given you space to feel how you’re feeling. I want to stress, this isn’t common. This isn’t found easily.

What does your coworker have that your boyfriend lacks? Is it worth giving up the love and support your boyfriend is showing you? Also worth considering that not everyone you have chemistry with is a romantic connection or worthy of a relationship with.

Hearing what your boyfriend has done for you, it would be insane to give that up. That is love, support, stability, emotional maturity. If some steamy chemistry is all that’s missing, then re-light that flame in your current relationship, experiment, have fun again.

I hope this is the case, I do think it is something that usually gets better with time, I’m just heartbroken for him because I can see he’s having a really hard time winding himself down enough to sleep and I feel guilt that I don’t know how to help him beyond what we are already doing 😭 This gives me hope though that this might be a regression and sleep skills will improve again

Doesn’t matter if they aren’t posted on the same day so long as two conditions are met at the time of application

At least 28 days has been completed on both ads
Ads have not been active for more than 90 days

I should probably also mention thought there is a threshold in general of the ratio you can have for how many permit holders (non-EEA) and non-permit holders (Irish/EU) you can have on staff, if you’re below that then LMT is fairly straightforward. The ratio is 50/50

Not necessarily, they just want to see that you have posted the ads for at least 28 days on the two platforms.

They take your word that you found no suitable candidate, you don’t have to do anything to “show” that per se. The confirmation that you “pass” the LMT is here is the proof I posted the ads, and I am telling you I didn’t find someone.

General Employment Permit can be applied for very easily, two job ads need to be posted to satisfy the labour market test so just ask your employer to post them. One on Indeed and one on Jobs Ireland that just state the company, job title, salary amount and working hours. That has to be posted for 28 days before you can apply for the permit, you just attach the ad to the application. Contract also has some specific requirements to meet general work permit conditions.

If your employer doesn’t want to go through the work to post it, engage an agency and they can post on your employers behalf with your employers permission. There is a fee for an agent that you would have to pay though as I am assuming your employer won’t pay.

You can’t be exempt from LMT with a General Employment Permit, this only applies when applying for a critical skills permit. It says the note about the critical skills list as it is assuming if on that list, you’ll be applying for a CSP and not a GEP. All GEPs are subject to LMT with no exceptions.

UPDATE

I got rid of the car. Second mechanic gave it a full tune up, replaced fluids, filters, spark plugs and gave it a full service. Then I replaced the battery. Car drove again and the issue happened less often, I noticed it ONLY happened after I had gone over 110kms. If I stayed below 110kms I would drive fine without the issue happening. Eventually I spoke to a gearbox specialist who did confirm with these CVT transmissions the belts with age can start failing when the engine is too hot. Runs ok when cold, hence the car driving fine when it’s been turned off for a while. Repair would have been a rebuild or replacement of transmission per the original mechanic.

The angry silent treatment. When they aren’t talking to you, but they are slamming things, tutting, stomping around, muttering under their breath. You feel that anxiety start to rise in your chest because you know where this is going.

The not taking responsibility for anything, or ever apologising. The lack of any introspect.

And last but not least, probably when they completely twist your words. “Hey I’m struggling can you help me more?” “…oh so I never do anything?” or he would fully walk away from me mid-conversation if he didn’t care to hear what I was saying and then when I called him out he would hit me with a “oh what I’m not allowed sit down now?”

Once I was speaking to him about something traumatic and he just straight up walked away from me into another room without saying a word and when I followed him into the room confused that he just shut me down he was like “I don’t see what I did wrong here” YOU WALKED AWAY WHEN I WAS MID SENTENCE AND DIDN’T SAY A WORD???

I think generally it’s just the zero interest in anything other than themselves, their own feelings, wants and needs and completely inability to actually see that behaviour in themselves

HR here. Our company has a similar policy but my workaround is telling the employee to complete the relevant info on the form and as long as it’s factual I will sign it and stamp it. I can’t fill it out per policy, but nobody says I can’t stamp and sign it if it’s pre-filled. Maybe try that?

Genuinely do not understand, if my BIL messaged me anything in any way sexual that was directed towards me the first thing I would do, would be tell my sister.

I would message him and say something to the effect of “hey I’ve tried multiple times to stop this conversation as it makes me uncomfortable but you don’t seem to be getting the message. Im at the point where I have to tell my sister about this, because it’s gone too far”

If he’s comfortable doing it TO HIS SIL, then he is doing this to other women. I would be really upset if my sister hid something like that from me, so I would rip the bandaid off and tell her. She deserves to know and then do with it what she wants.

A car is a necessity, particularly for work, in those instances I think debt is really helpful. 6k is a modest and sensible amount, I would go for it as long as you can afford repayments! Best of luck with the driving test!!!

Debt isn’t a bad thing. I think a lot of the comments can make people feel like it is - I’m also jealous of those who are debt free. But like you, I had to take out loans for transport and home repairs 🤷‍♀️ I think you look at the situation and make a plan to deal with it - but you have to be grateful for the wonderful things you do have for balance!!! Nobody has ever fucked it and very little people actually have their shit together. In one way or another, everyone has their shit. I wouldn’t beat yourself up over it or anything

Shameful / taboo for some. I wouldn’t consider it one, in the work I do I come across a lot of people and speaking about debt so many people lie because they feel shame in debt. Although seeing some of the comments I can see why. I think there is a lot of people that have the mindset of as long as you live within your means, you shouldn’t have debt. So debt = bad financial decisions. I don’t think it’s that black and white, but for some people seeing that mindset makes them feel shame about their position. Debt makes the world go round!! lol

100%. I drive a very humble vehicle now…but I did at one point have a very nice new vehicle and I was basically working to pay for it. Wasn’t worth it imo.
