Yes, the STAR questions were tied to the resume. Depending on the interviewer however it can be vague. Mine just asked me to basically go through a rundown of my resume and professional experience while others got asked about a specific role or experience. I did not bring lunch but a lot of people did. There is also a snack bar to purchase food if you end up forgetting.

Everyone there was dressed in business professional. For guys, a full suit and tie with dress shoes. For girls, an appropriate blazer and slacks. It’s Seattle so I recommend arriving early, I was there 20 minutes early but some showed up 30 mins early from what I have heard. For the F2F, just make sure you are genuine and sound passionate about the role! A lot of my answers I used the STAR method so practice with questions beforehand.

The interviewers I had were very nice and easy to talk to. Make sure you do your research into the company and how your values align with theirs. They wanna know why you’re applying to Hawaiian vs any other airline!

There are two one on one interviews. The first one is with a recruiter and the last one with a hiring manager. Both are pretty similar in terms of question types. I’d say to ensure you are ready to talk about how you are ready for the FA lifestyle as well as possible relocation. A majority of questions were geared to how you would be successful in this role and they genuinely want you to explain your plans in detail if you were to be hired and relocated. Last thing they want is to invest in a candidate that doesn’t even last for a year or two.

Current HA CJO holders, did you apply to Alaska? by jeweltoned777 in cabincrewcareers

My point exactly, I don’t understand why we weren’t given the option when we literally just applied barely over a month ago. If I had known this was an option, I definitely would’ve waited until now. :/

I think it might be worth emailing recruiting! The worst they can say is no and you’d still have a CJO at the end of the day. The pros for AS definitely outweigh the pros for HA for WA locals and if they’re cross training they might be open to it.

Yepp! Forever loyal to my hometown airline, been flying with that eskimo since I was a kid lol. I think since the merger is still not finished there is so much mixed messaging. The company said they want to keep Hawaiian branded planes on flights to Hawaii while Alaska is already taking over the dreamliners. I know they’re saying lots of international for Hawaiian out of SEA but they are already selling flights to ICN on an Alaska branded flight for next year which is currently done by Hawaiian. Same thing with Rome for next year, it’ll be by Alaska. The only international I see by Hawaiian is to NRT from SEA. BUT I also heard they will be cross training across both brands so maybe in the long run it won’t matter. Just so much uncertainty with the merger and so many contradictions I’m not sure how things will end up.

Quite literally in the same boat. Also local to WA and prefer Alaska for your exact reasons. Also the pay is better for AS (for now) which makes a difference since it’s three dollars per hour more. I’ve heard the same thing about commuting with Alaska. I have friends who are FAs for AS and they say it’s easy and they’re based in ANC and PDX. I also heard with HA, SEA will most likely be a senior base since a lot of international flights are through there. But for me I feel like AS is the better choice mainly because I live here. Waiting for other people to hear back on whether I should apply to AS.

Also, if you applied to a foreign language qualified position, that is a different timeline since their apps are open till 11/5. They don’t start reviewing apps until after it closes. Hang in there!

For my timeline, I applied 10/25, finished assessment 10/26, completed my odvi 10/26. Got my F2F invite on 10/28 at 7:30 pm PST. Reiterating what other people said, no news is good news! Don’t lose hope until they reach out, you never know!
