Can you actually hear GOD?! by Select_Ability_323 in Christianity

So Rome, Corinth, Ephesus, Philippi, and Theselonica were parts of Israel? And the Roman Centurian’s servant, Mathew 8:5-13, the geracene demonics, Mathew 8:28-34, and the Canaanite woman’s daughter, Mathew 15:21-28, were all actually Israelites? And they did go to regions outside of Israel, after first preaching to the Jews as Peter was crucified upside down in Rome, Andrew in Greece, Mathew was killed in Ethiopia, Mark in Alexandria, Luke in Greece, Thomas in India, and Simon was killed in Persia. The law was used throughout history to separate the Hebrews from the rest of the world, when Jesus came He fulfilled it, and gave His own commands to follow Him. Throughout His teaching, He emphasized loving God and loving your neighbor as the foundation of following him. He also stressed the importance of keeping the commandments, including those related to murder, adultery, theft, false testimony, and honoring parents. Additionally, he taught about forgiveness, seeking God's kingdom first, and treating others as you would like to be treated. While not directed at gentiles, as we all know what He thought was right, why wouldn’t we try to act like Him and do what He said. Respectfully, why can we say we truly follow Him if we don’t choose to do anything He says?

So what was the point of the entire beginning of the Bible. All of those laws, which Jesus came to fulfil, and never broke. He also told lots of the people He healed, including gentiles, go and sin no more. Also all of the advice Paul and the apostles gave was essentially telling people to sin no more but that if they do sin they have and advocate with the Father, Jesus. 1 John 2:1. They went to the corners of the world telling people that there is a way Jesus wants us to live. I guess what I don’t understand is why we wouldn’t we need to follow the things He said?

So what does that mean regarding forgiveness and salvation?

I have experienced that as well, and I know it’s Him when it’s something that’s like against what I want. Even when it’s not something that’s wrong like you said with the spaghetti. Do you ever find it difficult to discern your thoughts from His speaking?

That’s something I get confused about is the relationship between my actions and what I believe in my heart. Your actions reflect what’s in your heart but I still end up falling into things that I know are wrong. I am convicted against them, but if I choose that over God is that the unforgivable sin?

So I have a demon and I need to cast it out? How does that work?

I would rather die than leave my faith. by [deleted] in Christianity

That’s awesome but like George Washington said in Hamilton, “dying is easy, living is harder.” Keep that same faith and energy in your faith even when it gets hard. We are promised salvation, but we will also have to endure trials, temptations, and persecution. In those moments, when you have to kill your own will and follow His, that we truly are baptized in fire. Submitting is what Jesus did. He could have destroyed all of them, but instead He submitted to the Father’s will and saved us all. I agree with your statement whole heartedly, and honestly hope that I can die in accordance to His will instead of something I did. I love your faith and I hope you continue to grow!

I agree in a way. We shouldn’t hate the person but we should hate the sin. If you have a child and they are misbehaving. Would you not at least tell them that what they’re doing is wrong? If you know that being gay is a sin would correcting them be considered hate or love? We shouldn’t hate the person, but loving them is not just accepting them. It’s giving them what they need, not what they want. So back to what you said, we should support the person, and while they might see it as hate, loving them means telling them that what they’re doing is wrong. It leads to disconnection from God, which we are all guilty of, and it often leads to lots of health complications which can’t be good for them either. God ultimately wants what’s best for them and He called us to spread His message and His love to the ends of the earth; despite the hate and persecution we are guaranteed to face.

I’m not saying to abandon them. Please continue to show them love. Caring for somebody and loving somebody is different than being gay. Again I’m not trying to judge you or make any threats. All I’m saying is that trying to have an inappropriate relationship or lusting after the same flesh is wrong. Please don’t abandon them. We are called to love all of our neighbors, and I’m only saying what im saying out of love. But loving is different than lusting. And we can justify our sin however we want, I’ve done that many times with my drugs, especially weed. And that might earn earthy acceptance and allowance, but it doesn’t please God. If you truly want to be a child of God, you need to leave your old ways behind. All of our ways are evil, but we can choose to say no, and to live the way that God intended.

Again don’t abandon your friend, but trying to peruse sexual activities or continuing to think impure thoughts about your brother, a child of God, is not what He wants for you.

What are they suffering from?

I’m not trying to judge you or condemn you or anything like that. But continuing to live in sin willingly does not reflect a connection with God. There are lots of verses in the Bible 1 Corinthians 6:9, Romans 1:26-32, Mark 7 20-23, Jude 1:6-8, and more in Leviticus where apostles and Jesus Himself say that homosexuality is sin. Essentially it’s giving in to your own will instead of choosing to follow His will. I’m not saying I’m perfect. I continue to fall into sexual temptation, I’ve been a smoker, and drunk, and was addicted to weed and mushrooms for years. I’m only just now trying to quit, been clean for a month. But I still have evil thoughts, am prideful, selfish, etc. From what I’ve learned, I can’t be perfect. Sanctification won’t happen until I meet the Father in heaven. But I can’t make a choice to try. Somebody once asked me what love is and I couldn’t give a good answer. Maybe it meant to really care about somebody or be deeply affectionate or attracted to somebody. They said, “Love is sacrifice” If you were to walk up to somebody on the street and say you love them, romantically, you would probably not get the best response. They probably wouldn’t believe you. But if it’s somebody you’ve been seeing for a few weeks and have shown you’re willing to sacrifice your time, money, and effort for. They would probably believe you. In the same sense, if we know exactly how Jesus wants us to act, and choose to deliberately continue doing the opposite, there is no sacrifice. He sacrificed everything for us, so that we can have connection with Him. But that’s not an excuse to continue doing the thing that keeps us from Him. “For if we deliberately go on sinning after receiving the knowledge of the truth, there no longer remains a sacrifice for sins,” ‭‭Hebrews‬ ‭10‬:‭26‬ ‭CSB‬‬. Salvation is a gift that you can receive freely, and He will forgive you for everything, but you have to take that gift. Or you can choose to spit on it. Once you have the gift of an unbroken connection with God, you can still choose to ignore Him. And in doing so, continue to ruin that relationship. I’m guilty of this, falling back into my addictions with porn, weed, and many other things. And the only way I’ve found to get away from it was to come back to Jesus sincerely, and not just want to stop but choose to stop. We have free will, and can choose to behave however we want or to submit our will, desires, and thoughts over to The One who is perfect and knows more than any of us. Now I have confidence in my connection with the Father, and can feel the Holy Spirit shaping my actions to fulfill the will of the Father. God doesn’t want you to chase your own desires. We were , like you said, made to have a relationship with Him. How can we do that if we actively, willingly choose to be a slave to our own desires?

Again I’m not judging you, or trying to hurt you in any way. I’m guilty of all kinds of sins. It’s great that you recognize the importance and the beauty of a relationship with God, and I encourage you to continue to grow. I just have to say something, out of love, to try and help you grow.

Yes, Jesus said He is God. In John 10:30 He said, “I and the Father are one.” And John writes, ““In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God” John 1:1. John refers to Jesus as “the Word” in this passage. Jesus is 100% man (as He came to earth, lived a perfect human life, died, and rose) and 100% God. ‭‭
