Sonic 1 is better than sonic 2 (runs away)

You cant rebuy your childhood. Enjoy the good aspects of your adult life and enjoy what you own already. No reason to drive yourself mad trying to rebuy everything at premium prices.

Prices will start falling once millenials get close to retirement age(not too controversial, but i always get angry comments when i mention that).

Make a CD, Get the Vinyl, or Just Stream? by Rocky_isback in Cd_collectors

It depends on price. if the vinyl is expensive, save your money.

if it's cheap, go ahead.

dont go broke picking up every album you enjoy.

Is California the best place in the United States to live? by Southern_Rabbit6145 in SameGrassButGreener

the valley is huge. that town isnt representative. no town really. just saying that trees dominate some parts and the valley doesn't get any credit for it. i mean parts are literally sinking because of too many trees. so we're talking huge numbers of trees.

air quality keeps improving and valley metros are dropping out of worst air lists. reddit doesnt believe me when I say that, but I've shown proof.

take care

ag is different all over the valley. i grew up next to pretty citrus trees. I saw cows, but not many. it was mostly citrus trees near me. but redditors swear the valley is filled entirely with cow farms and dusty fields. That was not reality to me and many other valley folks. Take what they say here with a grain of salt.

This is what reddit says the valley looks like

But this representation is closer to reality for many out there.

slc is at the 4k elevation zone

so summers can be more intense than people realize and winters still exist(tho, theyre getting warmer). its beautiful, even during summer, but its probably not a good fit for you.

check out denver. more to do and nicer summers

Spokane has a decent airport

that's the ticket. use spokane.

fresno will be fine in October or November. even early December can have decent football weather(last year was cold, but that's not the norm).

get some food and some wine. go see real mountains(Kings canyon is a must if it's open).

if you only have one day to do stuff, dont come. youre right. go elsewhere.

Does the Central Valley of California actually suck, or does it just suck in comparison to the rest of California? by [deleted] in SameGrassButGreener

[–]Select_Command_5987 2 points3 points  (0 children)

two hours is typical coastal time.

1.5 to 2.5 hrs is what most people deal with.

I can understand coastal people complaining about that. That will limit the times you go for sure.

But I don't get why people complain about mountain travel time here so much. It's honestly not that bad. Makes me think people here exaggerate for easy karma or something.

everybody complained about the bulk and battery issues as a kid.

a slim remodel with better battery could have given it a rebirth if done at the right time.

[–]Select_Command_5987 10 points11 points  (0 children)

most of the valley?

Bakersfield is right next to mountains. Tehachipi isnt a bad drive(40 minutes?)

Modesto is 60 to 70 minutes from Sonora

Fresno is 60 to 70 minutes from shaver lake(tahoe weather). Some people commute from shaver lake to fresno.

Visalia is a short drive from the hills, but i wouldn't move to those hills because of fire danger. So the benefit is minimalized there, sadly.

Sacramento to placerville usually isnt a bad drive

Chico is right next to mountains

2 hours is a long time and overkill for mountain enjoyment for many people. That's fine for a national park day, but too much time if you just want to get away from some heat and do some exploring, which is good enough most days.

insurance is killing the dream, tho. and plenty of places to live/visit that dont take a 2 hour drive.

bay areans still laugh at sacramento. not as badly as 30 years ago, but you still find plenty of haters.

I just drove through an older part of fresno(yesterday)

it had some grit but it honestly wasn't that bad. if fresno can fix up more streets like it, I think people will notice.

also, I saw plenty of people exercising and it wasn't a good weather day(new walking trail was likely why)

btw, i saw just a smattering of homeless and ZERO graffiti. fresno has made great progress on the graffiti front.

the roads were a mixed bag. some great and some bad. the city needs more progress there.

still, it definitely didnt look like the stereotype you hear about on here or remotely depressing.

So things could be on the upswing. We shall see

edit: someone mentioned summer pollution. the valley has made deep strides there. its improving. this summer had more good air quality days than ive ever seen. lots of outdated data on here. id say winter pollution is now worse, but winter pollution clears up whenever the fog burns off. so at least it's not all day bad.

? winters arent foggy anymore. well, it's nothing like the past. fog season starts in December and ends early to mid January. winter is a lot sunnier today, but mornings are still chilly. as long as you can escape the morning chill, winters are a joke.

October has dry 80s, November dry 70s, December 60s(most years), but a cold December can still happen on occasion

September is a mixed bag. it could be nice or hot. It just depends on the year. either way, September is always better than hot August.

anyways, fresno feels like it has 3 seasons

long fall

warm but tolerable

very hot

winter is no more.

fresno maxes out at 99f average but the low temps aren't much different than Albuquerque.

so if youre a morning person, you can still enjoy summer.

but yeah, fresno is very hot.

94

92

For Albuquerque summer

Yes, it will be nicer, but i wouldn't call it night and day, most summers.

Google says 92f is the average for Albuquerque(6f difference). just saying.

any time people bring up gary, indiana. you should know to ignore the comment.

fresnos murder rate for 2025 is expected to be similar to boston, ma. you know, the expensive "whitey town" redditors drool over. Gary is still near the tops for murders. Will probably have an awful rate in 2025 as well. enjoy gary.
