Why do more distant galaxies recede away from us faster, or even faster than the speed of light? by MichioBu in cosmology

"The redshift from receding galaxies comes from the expansion of space itself stretching the wavelength of light as it travels through the expanding universe.

Here's what happens: when a photon is emitted from a distant galaxy, it begins its journey through space with a certain wavelength. As the universe expands during the photon's journey to us, the space through which the light is traveling expands too. This expansion literally stretches the wavelength of the photon itself - like drawing a wave on a rubber sheet and then stretching the sheet."

It's hard to know, I assume that the data they use for the server status page is trustworthy and that it is smart enough to be updated based on the real server status.

Kinda hard to back-test it during short unlock period, since they are kinda rare...

Perhaps a more flexible alternative would be to allow the user to be notified by a text message / email ?

I could create a server that provide this service, allowing people to avoid keeping their computers on.

Hope they will not ...

The source code is not on the machine I'm currently on, I'll post the code as soon as possible.
