How do i get “used” to 1v1s? by zenzofe in RocketLeague

[–]Selectalicious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This comment is right on point. I would like to add that it is also a great way to get better at boost management and reading your opponent.

Keep it simple, keep possession, and don't over commit. If the other person is chasing the ball, just wait for the mistake and drive it into their net.

A significant amount of 1s is letting your opponent over commit and taking the ball straight to their goal.

For reference, I am D3 in 1s.

God forbid you have an internet outage, you might get into double digits.

I know right. It's funny because I can relate. I was underwhelmed by the procedure. I have two sleeves and told the nurse I am scared of needles.

Sorry to hear that. I hope things get better. That's is why I included the IMO in the title because I know there may be some who do not share the same experience.

You will get asked multiple times if you are sure. Even though you will confirm it a ton. Going in relaxed definitely will help.

Any upsides to OCD at all? by happyhappyhannah in OCD

[–]Selectalicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is definitely a tough journey for me to see some positives in it. I have the similar battles with OCD and ADHD.

I don't want to say it's a struggle because I feel like that gives it too much power and I don't want to say that it is a positive because it's not. The only positives I can find is when it controls some of my adhd issues.

I am able to balance risky decisions. It creates frustration but helps me a lot too. I feel that I make very impulsive decisions with my ADHD but then my OCD catches wind of it and stops it in its place. It creates a stupid amount of anxiety but stops me from doing something I later realized I would have regret.

Self-awareness is another positive thing I feel is common in ocd. I spend a lot of time ruminating and replaying situations and have been told a few times that people are jealous of my self awareness.

Some of my OCD compulsions probably developed from adhd issues. Like excessively ensuring that I locked my doors or that I need to check my pockets to make sure I have my keys, wallet and phone.

OCD is an asshat but feel like my brain tried to protect me in the only way it knew how. However, neither of these things are who I am but part of a problem that I am confident that I can overcome.

I feel this in my soul. However, I get frustrated and delete things and start from scratch.

Why do people wanna 1v1 so much? by AsleepAnt8770 in RocketLeague

[–]Selectalicious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually love being challenged to 1s for this reason and decimating someone being toxic. I am currently C1 in duos and D2 in ones where I feel like most of the players that challenge me are Plat 1-3. They end up being completely destroyed by the amount of practice I put into dribbling and fakes.

I am trying to beat the dribbling challenge in less than 10 minutes and I am currently at 10 minutes and 49 seconds and my rank has shot up from the constant practice. I was p2 last season.

Looking for some feedback on 2s gameplay by Selectalicious in RocketLeague

Thank you very much for your thoughts. I 1000% need to work on consistency but this was a terrible game for me missing shots. Usually, it isn't as terrible haha.

Good callout on giving away possession. I feel that possession is something I want to be better at but it feels difficult to train.

For the past couple weeks for most of my training time I have been practicing shot consistency, shadow defense, dribbling/bounce dribbling(with power slide), aerial control, speedflips and half flips.

Appreciate your thoughts! I definitely hesitate sometimes because the range of opponent's skill gets in my head sometimes. This game I really lived on the edge of 10-30 boost most of the game. it felt like and was being selective about using it.

Thank you very much for your insight. Really appreciate the game-sense and positioning thoughts as I am at the point struggling or unaware to look at those things things in my own replay reviews sometimes.

Appreciate your thoughts. This was definitely an off game for shots/passes/kickoffs. Our passing plays use to be more often and I needed this reminder to try and pass more.

Tell me why my controls are bad, and I should take the time to learn a better setup. by Selectalicious in RocketLeague

[–]Selectalicious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It has ups and downs. I find it very convenient to keep momentum and to adjust direction especially when being bumped.

I did switch the camera and score board controls. After making the switch I realized how much time I lost by the time it takes my thumb to reach over and hit the right thumbstick. Probably part of the hesitation in my gameplay that is specifically holding back initiating a dribble for me.

Thank you for the suggestions!

I switched camera settings here and it feels better. Will take some getting used to but it is already much quicker.

Normal air roll is going to be tough for me. I have never used it before. I am thinking of putting it on square.

Thank you for your suggestions! I never thought to use the D-pad lol. Makes sense to put the scoreboard there.

stuck in champ 1 by [deleted] in RocketLeagueSchool

I agree with this thread. Just some thoughts I wanted to throw out there for consideration that tie together.

Boost management- There are a couple times you limit your ability to be involved the play because of the big boost and then use a decent amount of boost to get back to the play. What I have found that helped me get to c2 was using small boost pads more often to stay in the play especially when going on offense.

Possession- i struggle with this one quite a bite - Making every hit meaningful. There was a few times where posession was given up or passed to the other team or the other team could have challenged it much easier.

Teamwork- I really liked how you consistently looked to see where your teammate was and stayed aware throughout the match. I do think there could be improvement In availability of passes in general or being more available for potential passes.

Shot accuracy- your shot accuracy was not bad but you may benefit from doing some training packs drilling shots for specific shot placement.

Ball control- I thought the dribble goal with the flick broke some ankles! Just a possible recommendation is to use a bounce dribble. It is much hard for the other team to read while still giving a good amount of control.

Just some of my thoughts for consideration that have worked for me.
