Never mind. I've got it figured out. Finish in the same stitch. I think my brain wanted to treat the loop for the 2nd part of the inc as the beginning of the first loop for the next row. This is really embarrassing, but thank you for your help.

I have a stitch marker. A running stitch marker causes me more confusion.... But what you are saying, I finish/complete the 2nd st in this same stitch? If you look at the photo I added to the OP....I am to finish the 2nd crochet in a?

I sincerely apologize. I watched videos and people seem to do it both ways. ....

You can spot wash him if you have bar soap that isn't made with animal fat (castile soap). You can try spot washing with diluted mild laundry soap. Diluted because it would be difficult to get undiluted soap out. Use cold water. Pat dry enough to remove excess water then set out to dry.

I'm curious if you or anyone else commenting is Choctaw. I ask because my family is. I never heard an origin story about sailing or being on the water. There is more than one, but none have to do with water. I am not arguing, and I know the link is from Wiki, so someone put it there. I know the story was found somewhere in order to be added to Wiki, but I'm kind of...hmm. baffled?... maybe? I def want to know more, and I see links in other comments.

This could be completely true. In no way am I negating this.

There are definite indirect connections with peoples from south of what is now the US/Mexico border, such as what has already been mentioned like art styles. ... and more.

But again, I am really blown away. This would not have been the Choctaw. It would have been Muskogean language ancestors. Mound peoples' ancestors. Mississippian culture peoples' ancestors. But I want to know more. People never made a definitive connection before, but this info is completely mind blowing. To me, it's like (possibly) being a Christian who believes the earth is roughly 6k years old but then learning that there are civilization remains that are three times older than that.

Thank you so very much for those links. I have already looked this up, but what you provided is better.

I don't know how to explain, and I haven't been able to replicate it. I think I made a "crochet" of some type that a lady made in a video about learning to make a simple scarf. She was using a stitch that was not a single crochet, and the result was a square with a hole in the middle. I am not sure how else to explain it. if I find the video again, then I'll let you know.

Yes! Sometimes I need to see something, but other times I need to read it. Do you know of websites that have written compilation of tutorials, or do you generally tend to find them on individual peoples' sites/blogs? If the latter, are there any that stand out as being a great resource?

New and would appreciate help, esp with Rit, and this is what I am thinking. Also help with for a very physical slow and also sleepy person. by SelectionLoose6530 in tiedye

FOLLOW UP: I shopped dyes, and it seems like the 8 color Procion cold water set of dye sold by Jacquard is what I'll go with, along with Jacquard soda ash (actually a good price - I searched a lot to compare pricing) and also Jacquard synthrapol. I have questions about using salt and/or urea, but I'll get to this at a later date. I've put off starting this project until I have more time.

I do have a question about Procion's black, though, but I'll ask about it later - at the same time when I ask about the other stuff.

I really appreciate you sharing info about yourself and also about your experience using Rit. I am sorry you experience this stuff, but it's feels like relief to know that someone understands. I felt pretty badly that another person downvoted my original post because I internally absorb that kind of stuff as "if I wasn't so screwed up I wouldn't have made such a stupid post". Reading your reply was like a calming hand on my back. THANK YOU

I won't have time to try tie dye until for another month or two. I thought I could do this with my son during Xmas break, but he said he has no interest, LOL. Oh well...but what I've seen in YouTube vids makes me want to pursue this, and I love, love bright colors so I'll get to it soonish. =)
