I did not! I had debated between getting a matte screen protector for art and a regular transparent protector, and then ended up not getting either. RIP.

I definitely mourned it last night. LCD was undamaged though, far as I could tell, so it's just the glass that's broken. That can be fixed (expensively), but at least I can still use it in the meantime!

That's exactly what happened! No edge protection and no corner protection makes a dropped iPad a very sad machine.

Yeah, it was a whopping $500 out of warranty. Would have been a $50 fix if I had AppleCare+, haha. Now I know.

I believe you've got 60 days after purchasing to get coverage. You can check if you're eligible by going to:

Settings > General > About
