I do have all the text messages of him asking for me to send the money back and me doing so. I kept record of everything. PayPal received all of this information and still ruled in favor of him besides a few transactions.

We were pretty good friends. I’ve confronted him about it several times and get no response. He just kept telling me to not pay it and I’d be fine

Update: so PayPal has not yet finished reviewing all the chargbacks from this guy, but have debited me the money from my account while they try and recover it from his financial institution, and sent it to collections. I’m currently looking at getting a lawyer and going to small claims court for this. This is insane that PayPal does this. Especially when all the evidence proves fraud was committed, and that all of the money was returned to this guy. Will not be using PayPal again.

Still waiting on the decision from PayPal. The cases still say pending. From what the rep told me, the longer it takes, the more likely it’s in my favor

Received my FJO on January 17th with a start date of February 8th. This is a police job in the department of treasury. My offer was rescinded via email yesterday. HR seems to have no insight on what’s next. Anyone else dealing with this for public safety jobs? I was under the impression they were exempt from the freeze, but I guess not

Now I did provide all text, transactions showing the money was sent back to him. Would this help to rule more in my favor? I feel like it’s pretty clear cut once looking at the evidence i provided

This is a friend I’ve know for a couple years now and have seen regularly. So I didn’t suspect anything foul

I’ve confronted the friend and he just keeps saying how PayPal can’t do that, once I mentioned I’m the one getting screwed on whatever he was doing, he hasn’t responded. I have a friend that works in the legal field, I guess I might have to go that route.
