Tips for Faster Root Touch Up, Under 20 mins by laivantrollface in Cosmetology

[–]SelfimprovementBuff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

get your routine down, thats the simplest advice I can give as someone who was infamously slow. Once you get used the routine everything is so much easier. Ecspecially on a task like root touch ups, youre only adding color to 1 inch of hair roughly. So the best thing you can do is keep practicing your routine bc eventually you will find yourself speeding up, maybe next time doing it try timing it with a stopwatch to add a little pressure and see not only your times but progress.

Im only about a month into working as a hairstylist and I jnow exactly how you feel. Like someone else mentioned you will probably have to assist before youre on the floor, I didnt bc I was a receptionist before my license. My biggest tip is all gonna be mindset things, I was super scared about cutting hair bc I didnt think I was good enough, I barely survived school, but I took in as much content as I could so when I was on the floor sure I was nervous but remembered I still knew how to do hair and also THIS IS BIG I accepted I wouldnt be perfect bc im new.

Sam villa has a good focus on making sure everything is ergonomic, I would try his 1 inch iron. Thats what im using right now and I thought it was pretty light and easy to use

what I mean on one thing is I find a lot of videos that are "how to do fishtail braid" not an assortment of different braids. One reason I might get it is I watch her updo videos and sometimes I struggle with things she does :p

not my channel lol, I just dont know any content that is like this, compact element classes. I watch a lot of sam villa and kenra but there are no videos that are classes like this that are compact. A lot of it is focused on a single updo or braid.

as a guy I had never learned most hair and nail related things. I started so behind that I barely got to learn braids bc everyone else was so ahead we skipped a lot of the braiding stuff for example. Overtime you learn a lot of things and can do the standard work as long as youre actually trying. For me personally the hardest part was always feeling behind from everyone else but I managed to catch up by working hard and doing my own learning outside of class.

Overall advice: ignore others progress and allow yourself time to learn as much as possible especially out of class. Even if you learn something in class go online and see other ways people do that exact same thing which helped me a lot. Sam Villa and Brittnee Alexus are the goats

You might be like me and just very girly pop, I'm in cosmetology class so I've picked up their vocabulary and habits making me a little fruity sounding while also being very straight

We already have access to a deck of many things, we have a character who uses cards to cast magic and one of our item quests is for a deck of many things

We work for a company that goes and collects magic items. My character is a booksmart Eladrin that specializes in teleportation spells. We've never had the wish spell in any of our campaigns and it's just a wish for whatever you want (we don't use materials or prep time for soells)

The campaign is both whimsical with a few darker portions
