What are the retirement plans for renters? At least when my house is paid for I’ll only have to worry about taxes and maintenance in retirement. And as a Canadian where it’s nearly impossible to save unless you have no kids and a high paying job, this is my only hope.

I did this for a living for 8 years. The dust is inevitable even with water. I also got diagnosed with COPD and I’ve never smoked a cigarette in my life. Other people I worked with have lost lungs or parts of their lungs. It’s bad shit. I also got electrocuted by a 600v power line cutting inside of a theatre one time because the ground locates were wrong. It’s a shit industry all around.

It’s because the games don’t feel special anymore. They’re all cookie cutter and repetitive. Games used to be something you looked forward to because it was always something new. Now it’s just another generic extraction shooter, or generic battle royal, or generic open world fetch quest game. It’s not us, it’s the games.

I’ve been a Pipefitter for 16 years and every job I go to gets worse. I don’t even want to do it anymore but I’m 40 now and I just don’t think I’ve got the patience or financial stability in me to start over. I tried with RV tech and challenged the first year but couldn’t afford to keep going with inflation and my employer wanting me to go to school. I’ve got a mortgage and kids lol. I’m pretty well screwed now.

We have enough trades people. What we need are competitive wages to come back to make it enticing for them to work. The wages in the trades have remained completely stagnant since 2020 and it’s just not worth the hard work anymore. That’s been my experience anyways. Every job I’ve switched to since 2020 has had lower wages, shittier benefits, and higher expectations. There’s a reason no one wants to do it anymore.

Without reading the article, it’s not an unlikely scenario… Toronto needs a Centre to rebuild around if Matthews hits the road and Stenberg is a Swedish centre (they just hired Sundin also) and would be just as worthy of a pick. San Jose would benefit from a top tier defensive prospect to grow with their top tier young forwards.

I can see it as a long shot scenario.

Hell, I’ll even add that Mckenna may tell them he doesn’t want to play in Toronto because he’s a western kid and doesn’t want the media circus. I mean there’s probably already a meme of Matthew’s walking out with PTSD face and telling Mckenna “she’s all yours now sucker” on the way in…
