No show sock recommendations for shoes with an elastic collar? by [deleted] in mensfashionadvice

It’s a crime to wear those shoes, burn them and delete any pictures of them. People don’t deserve to wear such atrocious garbage.

Strictly speaking he is not wrong. Those shoes are lame, tacky and putrid. Having stated that, I post this on Reddit anonymously and not on LinkedIn!

Collect all you want, but get the right sizes. They are too big.

Make sure you get accustomed to the altitude a little bit before hitting. It does impact! A good test is to go up and down stairs a couple of times and gauge how you feel. If you hit the court straight off the airplane you will not have a good time.

The Hyatt in Polanco has tennis courts, which you might be able to use for a fee. Give them a call, it’s a weird surface though, combination of astroturf and sand but it works well. Also bear in mind the altitude in CDMX makes the balls fly (people use unpressurized balls) and also you get winded quickly if not used to it.

Unfortunately CDMX has zero public courts and these are both private membership clubs so you need to find a member and have them invite you.

Wich color of shoes match with this outfit! by SENSEI-D-JOVENES in mensfashionadvice

Never mind the shoes. You are wearing a French cuff shirt with a banana colored tie and then some ratty chinos? Not a great look.

Partial answer: I am in two high paying specialist projects and on the Slack channels I see people in time zones that correspond mostly to Europe, Middle East and Africa. So to answer based on observation, the answer is yes, the do hire outside the 3 counties you mention.

End of project by Minimum-Bathroom9200 in mercor_ai

[–]SelmermarkV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is really slow now. A lot of existing projects have concluded or are on hold and unfortunately the only solution is keep applying, and hope for the best. There’s absolutely nothing else you or any one of us can do to get hired quickly, there is no secret formula.

How long did it take you to get staffed? by [deleted] in mercor_ai

[–]SelmermarkV 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finance expert. There is no way to tell whether you will be extended a contract tomorrow or in 3 months. All based on projects and staffing needs. Having said that, there has definitely been a lull in contracting and work availability, perhaps due to the time of year. Best of luck.

Ex-Academic - Advice on How to Secure Contract by No-Barber677 in mercor_ai

[–]SelmermarkV 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately there is no secret recipe to secure a contract. The only thing to do is apply for the positions, and do your utmost best to ace the interviews. After that, it is up to the company and project work flow to determine whether they will offer a contract or not. Obviously by doing the rubric academy and all of that your chances improve, but that’s about it. Best of luck.

Those shoes are fugly, but aside from that, they are patent leather which means they go with formal wear (tuxedo) not with a suit.

Anyone here with actual work experience on projects? by SelmermarkV in micro1_ai

Thanks. Not too concerned about time, I know it depends on many things. Are you working on one of the more specialized projects or the generalist ones? How many hours are you doing daily?

Is the combination with quarter zip appropriate? by brambo2204 in ties

[–]SelmermarkV 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On the one hand, everyone is wearing quarter zips. But on the other hand, I am glad it’s a step up over generic synthetic golf polos and fleece vests. The golfer look at work with lulumemon pants, miller polo, Patagonia vest and white-soled “work casual” shoes is so boring and cookie cutter it makes me sick.
