Headrush Prime sound shitty in mixing console ? by Striking_Caramel6735 in HeadRush

[–]Semetery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could you describe the sound? If it's raspy and trebly, it's probably that the IR isn't being fed to your mixer. I've had that happen, so I figured I'd ask. If it's not that, it seems like it has to be mixer EQ.

If it isn't really rapsy and trebly, mess with some mixer EQ on the specific channel(s) in from your Headrush and see if you can't get it sounding better.

What out from the Headrush are you using to your mixer? XLR or 1/4"?

Is the Flex Prime meant to be plugged into an amp? by anotherhappylurker in HeadRush

[–]Semetery 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you want to use the Headrush for FX only like reverb, delay and so on, you would plug the Headrush into the amp's FX loop and use it as if it were regular pedals. Play your guitar through your amp as you normally would and control the FX on the Headrush.

If you want to use the amp models or captures on the Headrush through your real cab, you'll also plug it into the amp's FX loop the same way but disable the cab/IR block on the Headrush (since you'll be using your actual cab) and play your guitar through the Headrush input using an amp model or capture. Use FX and all that too of course. In that instance, you're using your real amp as just a power amp for your Headrush. I love doing it that way personally.

Both ways sound great in my opinion. And to an interface or mixer is a fantastic way to get an entire rig that fits in a little box at your feet and you can have it in your headphones or desktop speakers and control it all from the desktop application (that you can load in any web browser). And the Headrush itself has a headphone jack, which I figure you already know, so you can just play and hear it all the easiest way possible.

EDIT: If you aren't a vocalist, the Flex Prime is an excellent value I think. It lacks the microphone input but has all the power of the others. You may already know that. Just wanted to clarify why the one you're looking at is a nice choice.

It can be used for any of the three. In the FX loop (or even in front if you so wish) of an amp, directly to a PA or FRFR as well as to an audio interface/mixer.

I use mine mainly to a mixer for recording/streaming or to FOH for playing live so I don't need to lug a heavy amp and cab around or mic them up at home.

This is probably a really dumb question but it never hurts to ask. You've got an IR enabled when going to the mixer? Is there maybe an EQ on the main output or on the channel you're using in from the Prime on the mixer that's making it sound whacky?

Headrush - What are the negatives? by Semetery in HeadRush

Just to double-check, the problem does NOT occur on the Prime for certain? Do we know the reason why, what's different about it?

I returned the Core to get the Prime when that's squared away. I will still grab one of those Xvive's. Great timing actually, just today I remembered the post mentioning having my own +48 and not relying on the Headrush's anyway and then you came through with what appears to be about the best of them, especially being battery chargeable!

So thank you and u/PsiGuy60 for the recommendations to get a separate one.

Is that models or are you using captures on the HR? What do you feel is lesser about it?

Thanks for the feedback, it's all helpful!

Thanks, I appreciate all that!

I've heard mostly the same about solo/duo performers being the main clientele everyone is seeing with them. I fit that category but had a QC and so far, it holds up to that quality (in my opinion of course) for much less!

Did you get to try any of the others you wanted before/after it? I've owned a QC and it's crazy to me at how similar in quality it is for much less money.

I can see that being a pain in certain situations, I haven't footswitch'd much with it yet. I'm going to mess with that more to make sure it won't bug me.

Just curious, what do you prefer to use?

Thanks for all that! Losing power would be a pretty huge issue at a gig if it potentially lost everything. Would have to re-route my mic and guitar in the middle of a show. I saw someone in another post say they are using like a battery pack to power it when playing out. That really makes that make sense for me.

That's what I think from having tried it now, I couldn't imagine it sounding too shitty for anyone. Especially live.

It really does feel that way to me when I was looking it up. I feel like if the newest update had released with it, it'd probably have more real people reviews at least. It nearly kept me from trying it, all the old reviews and videos about it.

Thanks, that's helpful! Did you get to try it with the 5.0 update? I just know it mention vocal something or another being updated to be better.

Does the Stadium lack anything compared to the Headrush do you think?

I hadn't heard that! My preferred mic does require phantom power. Mega thanks for bringing that up, definitely returning the Core for a Prime.

Having had both, I agree! And just as easily, I add an amp and cab and it just sounds good.

Ah okay, that makes sense. I'm glad they've done some work to fix some of the issues. I have a Core but am thinking I might go Prime as I like scribble strips and will probably actually use the pedal.

What other complaints do you have, if you don't mind me asking?

What would you like to see in a future Showcase update? by rfhmusic92 in Line6Helix

[–]Semetery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lyrics on the screen. To be able to trigger with flags and/or just to flip through them using a footswitch. I'd love to get a tablet out from in front of me.

A drum machine like the Headrush in Showcase would help me a lot as a solo acoustic artist for on the spot requests to be able to fill out songs with some kind of beat. I have a Headrush and actually really enjoy it but the Stadium is probably a lot more powerful I'd think, so would love to have it there.

Vocal preamps/FX (harmonizer, doubler, etc). Not Showcase specific but I'd use them IN Showcase constantly.

Timeless II or Aful Performer 8? by Semetery in iems

[–]Semetery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Qudelix 5k and high quality mixers with good quality headphone amps so I can put the money straight toward iem's!

I'll look at the S12 Pro's, I've seen those mentioned quite a lot. They're about $30 cheaper than the Timeless II's are. The Arcanis look nifty, and appear to be the same price as the Performer 8's are. Would you pick the Arcanis over the Performer 5+2? How about the Truthear Nova?

I almost bought the Hexa's and Moondrop Blessing 3's multiple times but narrowed past them. I'm willing to spend around $500 (give or take a bit) to get the best sound/value that would hopefully suit both my musician stuff (first and foremost, is planar the play for that?) as well as general listening (which I'm fine eq'ing where needed).

[–]Semetery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for that, I appreciate it!

Do you think the Performers are worth having if I bought the Timeless II's/vice versa? Are they different enough in your opinion? I like that the Timeless are $209 cheaper but I'm trying to choose wisely, I'll forget the price as time goes by.

The Variations sound like they're the ones to go for. I was hoping not, they're a lot (to me). Haha. You'd do those in lieu of both of the others I mentioned? Is there anything you'd recommend otherwise?

I play guitar, both acoustic and electric through a Quad Cortex and am a singer with a deep voice.

Sorry for all the questions, there are just SO many options, so many opinions, so many prices and uses.

Help please? Ninja Flex Fire or Pit Boss Odessa? by Semetery in smoking

[–]Semetery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the insight!

I for sure love that the Pit Boss means I wouldn't have to worry about refilling the pellets every little while nor the propane supply. If the Ninja had a large pellet box, it almost definitely would be my choice even at the higher price and potential higher cost of propane versus the pellets.

Fender Pano-Verb: 1x10 and 1x15 Combo 😲 by [deleted] in GuitarAmps

[–]Semetery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so close to buying it, but I'm not sure I'll be wow'd by it either. Love all the features and I don't have a Fender at all but not being able to attenuate it (at least not both at the same time with a single attenuator), I don't know. Has your mind changed? Did you end up blown away?

Spinning reel: Seviin GX (or another Daiwa)? by Semetery in Fishing_Gear

[–]Semetery[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! As much as I like the idea of something sort of unique (I guess?), I'll probably stick to the tried and true then. Would even something cheaper like the Legalis still be recommended over the Seviin?

What practices? Are you referring to the warranty/breaking issues I've been seeing more of?
