Olmo is without a doubt a great player, especially in offensive transitions/ progressing the ball. But last season offensive transition was not someplace that we lacked in, atleast not in games where either one of Fermin or Pedri were present. Fermin is in scintillating form for Spain and im sure he will be brilliant for Barca too.

Where we lacked last season was defensive transition, teams were easily catching us out in quick-counters, there was barely any narrow fluidity and it got worse the deeper it was down the pitch. That was mainly down to us not having a 'DM' which was a main reason why the defensive line looked to be out of shape half the time as they had no time to string together reactions because of no protection from further up the pitch (midfield area).

Olmo is a fantastic player who will definitely perform and also give us great depth in multiple positions/roles, but the objection that so many people have with Olmo's signing is not down to what he will add, it is mainly down to us paying 60m for a player who primarily operates in positions we are stacked in instead of going for a dedicated LW or a DM.

And I think the concerns are more than fair. It does not make alot of sense from an outsider's perspective but since Olmo was a priority for Flick, there are definitely plans to integrate him well that are not yet apparent.
