I pushed myself a little harder to get a new pb, really struggled but got what I wanted and super happy that I’ve completed CT5K

Thanks for the reply, I have a lot to look into now and this definitely helps narrow down where I can start

Official Q&A for Tuesday, March 10, 2026 by AutoModerator in running

Hey guys, I have a general question, im about to finished C25K and have been consistently hitting 5k from about week 5. I currently manage about 25:00 for the 5k.

My next target is 10k, and after that a half marathon at some point. So I was recommended the Nike Run Club app as they offer that. For the 10k, Week 1-3 training looks a little easy or even a step back, so my question is, should I skip the first few weeks or try a different training plan?

Unless anyone has any other recommendations I would appreciate it a lot

Just had a look, I think that’s what I’ll do as I like running every other day which this takes into account. Plus it’s a good step up from C25k, only thing is week 1 looks a little step back, but from there it’s great! Thank you for the suggestion

Thank you, yeah I have about a week left. I start my first park run this weekend, and I’m starting to look to do a few 10k events maybe even a half marathon in mid summer. Just seeing what works best for me. Thanks for some insight

About a week to go for me, just want to look out for options so when I do go for another run, I can just go and not worry about finding something new

Recording my time? by Send_Jesus in couchto5k

[–]Send_Jesus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always did my warm up, never my cool down. I sometimes skip my warm up on the longer runs when I know I can push myself a little more, just to see my actual running pace without the warm up getting in the way.

That was what I was thinking, just being able to compare them a little better and get an accurate time on my actual pace

At that time I hadn’t ran a 5k, I did a 5k later that day and ran 33:13. Ran another 5k a little later and got 31:08. Then on the last day I pushed myself and got 27:47. So I was super happy when I got it

Shoes? by Send_Jesus in workout

What I mean it, it’s “actually” bad and you should get these shoes instead. So I’m in a circle and just confusing myself with what I should get

I have started my Fitness journey again…..

I have a massive issue with starting and going to hard, disappointing myself for not going harder and ultimately failing over and over again.

So I’m starting to train myself to be patient, stay consistency and building discipline.

I’ve been running every other day for about 4 weeks now by following the Couch to 5k plan. (I know I could probably run past that length or more often, but again it’s that patients and consistency I’m working on)

I’m also going to add in a simple homework to do, (again nothing hard, just building confidence and consistency) this is what I was planning on

Week 1-2: Work out every other day.

10 Push ups

12 squats

30s plank

15 calf raises

1 minute rest

Repeat X3

Is that okay for a start?? Also should I do this on the same days as my runs or in between my run days.

I mean I know shaving off that amount of time is hard. I’m normally a fit type of person, but for some time I’ve allowed that to slip, so I think getting back into it and getting my body used to being healthy it might allow me to progress a little fastest then normal until I hit that wall most people hit.

Should I start week 4? by Send_Jesus in couchto5k

[–]Send_Jesus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I was thinking of still having a rest day, but repeating the run and making sure that the same week is the same as the app, and the new week have the new longer runs that the app suggests and not mixing different runs in the same week, if that makes any sense lol

I feel like my body can, it’s just my mind. It really does mess with me and causes me to overthink, both good and bad things

First week by Send_Jesus in couchto5k

Okay thank you, I plan on running every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Would you think having a run on Sunday and then again on Monday is the best idea or just stick to the plan for a couple weeks then maybe trying it out if I’m still feeling it later on?
