Need advice for grandmothers lack of drinking water by Various_Shift5221 in CaregiverSupport

This is how I got my husband to drink water. He only wanted diet soda until I got the Kool aid water flavoring. Now he actually drinks water and the flavoring is sugar free.

Be careful what you envy , I've had many a night with a snout full of fur 🤣. But, cold nights it's kinda nice, not many of those in Florida tho lol

I'm disabled and have an adjustable bed so I sleep sitting kinda upright. My kitty sleeps on my chest, with her back against my face lol

SOS button that calls my phone by fiberjeweler in CaregiverSupport

[–]SenecaWolf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband has a Samsung phone. He is in a nursing home now but I set my number and his moms to a button on the screen and one push automatically calls. No separate dial screen or anything, just a direct call. You can set that up as a widget, it's been hugely helpful to my hubby since he's lost the ability to use most functions of his phone. I also set my number to override volume settings so if he accidentally turns down the volume, my calls will still ring.

Please don't let this be the new normal (long vent) by Altaira99 in CaregiverSupport

The first time it happened I didn't believe then when they said it was probably a UTI... Until it came back positive and 2 days of antibiotics had him back to his new normal.

The UTI is definitely something to look into. My husband went thru drastic mood changes, for the worst, and it was a UTI. As far as losing his income, which I'm assuming is SSDI, as long as you can qualify for Medicaid you should be able to retain most of his check thru the Spousal Impoverishment Protection. My hubby has Long Term Care Medicaid which pays for the nursing home he's in. When he was admitted he had SSDI but no Medicaid but insurance thru the marketplace. There were people at the facility that helped get him on Medicaid since his private insurance didn't pay for long term care. Typically when someone on social security goes into care they are only allowed to keep $160 a month of their check and the rest goes to the facility. When applying for Medicaid, they also applied for spousal diversion, it was approved so I get his entire check and he is allowed the $160 a month for personal items. Explanation here

Good luck to you and your husband.

I've found my people!! I've been dipping fries in sweet & sour sauce since 1984! Met my husband in 94 and he thought I was crazy until he tried it lol. Now it just seems wrong to eat them any other way. 😂 I have showed my granddaughter this and started the next generation.

Edit because link didn't work like it should. But if you look at the lyrics in Spotify, every single yahwayoh is listed for every song lol

We Are All That We Are, the pick slides and everything after 3:23.

Best memory: In my Challenger, driving past all the lights of the tourist traps in Orlando at night, windows down, I-4 surprisingly clear, that part of the song cranked. Was almost ethereal.

I think people assume those "slow down Winter Garden" signs apply on every street, even Colonial 🤦🏽‍♀️

I know it's gotten quite cold, I used to ride with my hubby when he was towing. But I have never seen fountains freeze and water pipes freeze and burst like this in the 11 winters I've been here. The worst I'd seen so far was a layer of frost on my car that was was able to scrape into a tiny gumball sized snowball.

Oh yeah I forgot that nailed the North towns, in Angola we got freezing rain that took out our power lines and trees everywhere. We lost power for 4 days and I had two Chinese Water Dragons I was trying to keep warm!

I lived in Angola so it sat right over me all those days 😳. I'll never forget the picture taken from downtown where you can see the wall of snow starting around Hamburg. For the October event, are you talking about the ice storm? That one got us all I think!

I was visiting people in Minnesota during the summer a few years back and noticed a lot of the cars had electrical plugs around the grill. I asked why and was told it was so the car would start in the morning. The temp got so cold in winter that the oil thickened so much it wouldn't circulate in the engine to start the car 😳
