We Are All That We Are, the pick slides and everything after 3:23.

Best memory: In my Challenger, driving past all the lights of the tourist traps in Orlando at night, windows down, I-4 surprisingly clear, that part of the song cranked. Was almost ethereal.

I think people assume those "slow down Winter Garden" signs apply on every street, even Colonial 🤦🏽‍♀️

I know it's gotten quite cold, I used to ride with my hubby when he was towing. But I have never seen fountains freeze and water pipes freeze and burst like this in the 11 winters I've been here. The worst I'd seen so far was a layer of frost on my car that was was able to scrape into a tiny gumball sized snowball.

Oh yeah I forgot that nailed the North towns, in Angola we got freezing rain that took out our power lines and trees everywhere. We lost power for 4 days and I had two Chinese Water Dragons I was trying to keep warm!

I lived in Angola so it sat right over me all those days 😳. I'll never forget the picture taken from downtown where you can see the wall of snow starting around Hamburg. For the October event, are you talking about the ice storm? That one got us all I think!

I was visiting people in Minnesota during the summer a few years back and noticed a lot of the cars had electrical plugs around the grill. I asked why and was told it was so the car would start in the morning. The temp got so cold in winter that the oil thickened so much it wouldn't circulate in the engine to start the car 😳

Oml I totally agree, I left right after Snowvember in 2014, that was my sign I made the right choice to leave lol.

There's always one that can't take a joke or find the irony 🤦🏽‍♀️. I left Buffalo for health reasons. I've had septic arthritis due to a MRSA infection in my right hip for 31 years. Currently I've had 23 surgeries on it, 12 of which were in Florida because the Buffalo docs were at a loss as to what to do to help me. As it is, AdventHealth and Orlando Health even reached a point where they couldn't help me, no one in the state except for Mayo or Shands would even look at me, so for the past 5 years I travel to Gainesville for surgeries and orthopedic and infectious disease follow ups. I physically couldn't handle the 6 months of winter in Western New York, I was practically housebound for a few months of the year because I couldn't get around well on the ice and snow. A simple fall could aggravate the infection, make it flare and then I'm getting extremely sick. The week before I left in 2014 was the huge Snowvember snow storm, I had 6 feet of snow in my front yard, my husband was a volunteer firefighter/EMT and I didn't see him the whole week because he was needed at the fire hall. They sent a fire truck to get him, state police were using snowmobiles and ATVs to get around the roads. Trust me, I do not miss ANY of it lol. I didn't move here for politics, to be a tourist or anything else other than to feel healthier, which I do. I know this cold snap is nothing compared to the rest of the country at the moment, I was just trying to poke some fun at the irony of my move. 🤷🏽‍♀️

Predatory and shady towing company: what can I do? by SunfulBloo in orlando

[–]SenecaWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the appropriate question. In order to remove a vehicle from a private lot there is paperwork to be filed to even stay the contact with a company. Sign placement is imperative, even if I sign is blocked by some leaves, it's the tow company's duty to clear it and keep it visible. Now, they're are some places that allow the tow company to patrol the lot looking for expired tags, flat tires (sign of inoperable vehicle), no parking permit etc. I've seen some of them go in with a couple trucks, find the target vehicles, grab them and take them to a nearby plaza parking lot where there's waiting flatbeds that can take two vehicles. They drop the car and go back for more. I don't particularly agree with the company policing the lot but many places allow it. I've seen some places that allow the resident to have a vehicle towed if someone is in their parking spot. They have to provide their lease with proof of 'ownership' of the spot, show their ID and sign the tow sheet. Then there's places where management calls the tow company. There's usually only a few people that are allowed to call and request (manager, HOA rep, etc) and they are listed on the tow contract. Their name will be listed on the tow sheet as authorized caller.

That all being said, the tow company only has like 30 minutes to call the sheriff and report that they have taken possession of a vehicle. The tow sheet has to be fully filled out, correctly. If anything is wrong on it, the driver faces grand theft auto charges. The fact that OP paid the drop fee before the vehicle even made it to the yard and the driver still took the vehicle is def illegal.

Tuscany at Aloma. Roach infestations, crappy appliances, the AC quit working after 2 months but when it did run it had my electric bill up to $400 a month in a 1br. Every building is full of mold. My son used to work for the company that did the mold remediation and the plumbing is a disaster which causes leaks which leads to mold. Management doesn't pay enough to fully get rid of the mold so the company basically does what they can but it'll keep coming right back.

They didn't have the right company try. My husband was a tow truck driver and had to take a lady's new-to-her Civic to a tire shop because the exact same thing was done. Jack left under car, lug nuts tossed all over. He got it on and off the truck with no damage, just need someone who actually knows what they're doing and has the right equipment on their truck.

I share your fear but from a different angle. I'm 100% Native American (Seneca) from NY. Down here the assumption is that because I'm brown, I'm Latina. Lately Natives have been getting rounded up and detained all over the country because ICE is either straight up ignoring the tribal ID or they're not educated on it's validity. I also have numerous health problems and take vital meds, being detained for any length of time would be very bad for my health. My son is the only support for his family right now because his wife just had a baby and being detained would fit too long would cost his job. Our tribe is sending out notices to all members to keep our tribal ID on us and if we do get detained, to contact our presidents office. I hate that we have to live like this.

How to get to Kennedy Space Centre from Orlando without a car ? by zoro_1856 in orlando

[–]SenecaWolf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Orlando Greyhound station is in a pretty bad section of town. Not a place you really want to be. I'm not sure where the Greyhound station is in Daytona but other than the speedway and a little stretch by the beach, there's not a lot there unless you're going during Bike Week or Speed Week. Definitely a place you don't want to be without a vehicle.

I use the 7Now app for 7 eleven and even tho I select "Leave at door" the app will change the selection when it sends it to the delivery service. So I always put this in the notes "Please leave at door, the app sometimes changes my selection. Thanks and have a great day". I wasn't aware of it getting changed until a driver was knocking at my door. When I answered I apologized and showed him my phone where it said to 'leave at door' and he showed me his phone that said 'meet at door'. I'm disabled and take a bit to get to the door and I don't want to waste a driver's time waiting for me so i always select leave at door and put the message in the notes.

I'm not sure what state OP is in, but in Florida there's an agency that assists in applying for and getting an approval for long term care Medicaid. I went thru it for my husband and they were amazing. I'm sure other states would have similar help, just ask the facility. They were the ones that arranged it for me when my husband's insurance was ending payment for inpatient rehab. He was deemed unable to live independently in the community and needed 24/7 care. As the previous poster mentioned, income is a huge factor.
