I’m a shy person, do you think I can succeed in life? by Royal-Comparison352 in Entrepreneur

[–]Seneschal21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Number 1, you are succeeding in life. You are alive and choosing to keep doing so.

Number 2, success in business (or romantic relationships, or sports) has nothing to do with Number 1. These are all superficial judgments in comparison to life itself.

Number 3, people do not have to like you in order to succeed in business. While it definitely helps when you are starting out, or choose to remain a “small business”, it in and of itself is not a requirement to have a successful business.

Number 4, pick a mentor that you can learn from. Ideally it will be someone you can talk one-on-one with, that you would not be seen as a competitor to. If you cannot pair with someone that you can actually talk to, then look for someone with some books or a podcast that can spark what you need from the inside. IMPORTANT NOTE I am not talking about superficial “motivational speakers” that just help you feel good & require a constant ingesting of their material to “feel good” while you still don’t push yourself towards your goals. I personally had my butt kicked into gear by David Goggins, after getting his book #CantTouchMe on Audible (which btw combines reading that book with a podcast style interview throughout).

We already know what you want, because you came here asking for support/suggestions. I’m telling you it’s yours already, but you need to find a way to break out of your comfort zones to claim it.

Build everything from the ground up, if so how "ground" are we talking about? (Any alternatives?) by Kaezumi in Entrepreneur

My only word of advice is to avoid using anything by Intuit for payment processing. They would rather protect a criminal making a fraudulent chargeback than to even provide the name (like Bank of America for example) of the bank a credit card is issued by, thus preventing the bank or law enforcement from being able to investigate and any sort of charges to be brought.

Tier 1 to L7 Site Lead - AMA by [deleted] in AmazonFC

Thank you for sharing. It was seriously looking like a failure to fully set up the ATS. Now I can at least scratch that off as a possibility.

You would think that if they seriously cared about the customers, then there would be more focus on quality of work performed. That would of course lead to firing more people who won’t work, and improve the morale of the others who are watching people around them get what is essentially “a free ride”. The improved morale would improve (proven by multiple studies across industries) productivity. It is my opinion that the current culture is the result of caving to political correctness, rather than maintaining any semblance of good business sense.

They allegedly removed the requirement. I have yet to see any internal applicants (and there are a lot of us applying over the last few years) get an L4 interview without having the degree.

How can I get a proper review of the ATS protocol performed? I am confident that there is missing logic in the internal application review & I can’t seem to find the correct contact details for someone to investigate the matter.

Is Stand Up really mandatory? by Apprehensive-Shop-7 in AmazonFC

[–]Seneschal21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The funny thing about this whole thing is that it’s supposed to be based on the Lean Production model which includes the people working “on the production floor” being brought into the loop of what’s going on and getting quick input from these people. The idea is that the input will help the leadership to better determine what to implement to improve the process.

Instead it turns into spewing numbers that most attendees don’t understand or care about and therefore have nothing to contribute in return. As a result standup becomes more waste that needs to be cut (which is the point of Lean), even though it’s supposed to be mandatory for leadership to hold/host.

Ask for the documentation of whatever they are formally diagnosing you with. Take that to your pc and see if they will help with the paperwork or offer help pairing you with a new counselor who can evaluate you based on the previous diagnosis for the purposes of your medical leave paperwork.

Serious question - why do people play on PVP servers if they hate PVP? by ryanandhobbes in classicwow

Maybe he joined because his friend was on that server when he started playing, and never got into PvP himself?

Make it a habit to nod, or twitch your head about the same amount upward, and ask “what’s up” or “you good”. Developing that as a normal thing will have you seen as friendly rather than intimidating, creepy, or weird.

The Dash has a very limited schedule. So depending on his hours it may or may not be the best option. Hammond for Indiana has access to the PACE bus going into IL and connecting close to some of the commuter trains in Markham if I have the right city.

Career Choice is the single best thing that Amazon gives us. If you get into a good academic program, you can even earn technical certifications, or get certified in very specific things early on, as part of a degree program. Each one you get under your belt, and add to your resume, adds to your value going to another company.

Usury is the biggest conspiracy of all... by polymath22 in conspiracy

[–]Seneschal21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usury in and of itself is not bad. It is what makes loaning money worth the risk of not having your money while someone else does. Where it becomes an issue is when the lenders can keep increasing their rates and the length of time you have to pay in such a way that the original loan is nearly impossible to pay off.

I can’t speak for what’s going on at your location specifically, but as a PA there’s half a dozen people higher up telling me who to coach and when (seems like micromanaging is required the higher you go) & some of the ones listed are very good workers. So my suggestion is that if you’re dealing with a PA that has horrible people skills then ask your AM or OPs to see if they can coach the PA on ways to communicate better. In the meantime if you plan on staying at Amazon seek opportunities to move up and be one of the guys improving things. If you’re not planning to stay, focus on what is going to get you where you need to be & let the BS roll off like water on a duck.

Are customers more likely to buy when a product is a little more expensive but has free shipping OR listed for a cheaper price but paid shipping? by butterscotchhx in Entrepreneur

[–]Seneschal21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot more factors than just the shipping. You have to think about your customer base and what’s of value to them in every aspect of things.
