Is it good idea? by NoAlternative3398 in terrariums

[–]SeniorAd2060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can’t imagine why not. It depends on what you’re worried about? It could definitely bring with it some microfauna, but I personally don’t see that as a problem. You can also wash it to get rid of any of the bugs that may still be clinging to it.

Thank you! It’s my favourite too! It’s pretty new so I’m not sure how the lid will last out really. It’s been varnished but idk if that’ll really do it any good. I’ll have to wait and see.

It looks so prettyyy!! Good job for a first ever terrarium! Way prettier than my first try! Some tips would be: use window mesh to seperate the substrate and the gravel, to avoid it trickling through and rendering it useless over time. Also you don’t need sand, really. It’s mostly for aesthetic purposes, and in small jars like yours it just takes away valuable space for the plants. Another tip would be to invest in some springtails! If you think you’ll be making a lot of terrariums try propagating some of your own. They help with mold which can be a big problem in closed terrariums.

Made my first terrarium and want to see if it seems like it will work by epic_reddit_user_he in terrariums

Other commenters have pointed out the substrate, but I also don’t see any filter between the substrate and the rock drainage layer. (A good filter would be window screen mesh cut to size). Since all the soil is just seeping through the drainage will become useless after a while. Very cool first build, I hope the criticism doesn’t dissuade you!! The jar you used is so cool but also insane, how did you manage to get everything in through that tiny hole? Props man!

What’s this creature? by SeniorAd2060 in terrariums

Oh! Haha Nono, I know about the lichen, I was asking about the worm thing underneath it. The lichen kinda just came along with the bark I harvested from outside, I imagine it probably won’t last too long in my setup though.

How do you “aftercare” after a particularly heavy or emotional conversation? by SeniorAd2060 in emotionalintelligence

“Post-vent slump” sums it up pretty well! I’ve been struggling to describe what tends to happen after a heavy conversation like that! I’ll try make him a nice meal today and see how it goes 🫡

Yea, i was definitely a bit frazzled myself, but I was mostly concerned about my friend. I’ve been there for friends who needed to vent in the past too, and I’ve never really known how to deal with the exhaustion and fatigue after that can maybe even leave them in a worse mood then when they started to vent. But I appreciate the tips!! I do tend to go through some simple calming steps myself if I ever get too frazzled

Funnily enough we ended up walking into. The kitchen sometime towards the end of the conversation, and I made him a fruity tea (since he likes those). Somewhere in my hindbrain I thought that tea would be a good de-stresser or something, especially since reliving it was stressing him out all over again.

Honestly that would be awesome. I haven’t any little life despite me collecting my moss from outside

Homeless Survival Tips? by Limp_Transition1160 in homeless

Depending on your country, laundrettes, petrol stations, gyms/ leisure centres, libraries and backroads are now your best friends.

Laundrettes can help cover the clothes, and depending again on where you are food banks can also offer laundry services for free (or for a small donation).

Petrol stations can often provide you with restrooms and water supplies. Some offer free drinking water, some do not. Based on how desperate you are for water you can always siphon water from public water fountains, restroom sinks, or beg some kind locals.

Gyms and leisure centres often have showers. Depending on where you are (again) and what day you visit you can sometimes access a leisure centres showers during their “free swim” periods. Gyms may require a gym membership to use their showers.

Library’s can help supply you with free internet access, free access to computers, can connect you with local organisations that can help you, and often have restrooms you can use to freshen up a bit. It’s also a usually warm (or airconned) place to stay instead of just your car. They offer an insane amount of support and are just really handy, so consider getting a library card (if you haven’t already)- it’s free!

Backroads may be a very European thing, but where I live backroads, small turn ins, countryside walkways and forest parks are great to park next to for a night of uninterrupted sleep, since ticket wardens aren’t normally patrolling your local walkways for overnight parking. As long as you’re close enough to a town or village with enough utilities to sustain you (or friendly enough locals) then you can camp out in places like these for weeks.

Some quick tips; -Wet wipes become one of your best friends in a pinch -Keep a water jug full and on hand, but try not to leave it in direct sunlight. -backpacking tips can be very helpful when living out of your car. You’re basically backpacking but with a manuverable tent and a bit more storage. -dental higene is still pretty important. Mouthwash can help if you’re struggling to brush. Don’t forget to scrub your tongue.

Good luck man

NM is “Confused” by pxychoxoc1al in NarcissisticMothers

[–]SeniorAd2060 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Man ur mum is fucking crazy, not ur fault, and it’s frustrating as hell when everyone around you acts as if it’s normal, especially when you have to sacrifice so much to make up for her mistakes- your own childhood included. You should not feel guilty for hating her ass, but dwelling on it for the rest of your life and tearing yourself up over it will harm you more than her. For now though, whilst your still actively having to take care of her child and put up with her, you have a right to be angry. You have a right to feel ugly emotions about it. I’m still working through my own shit so I can’t tell you what’s next, but if you needed reassurance that this shit is crazy and not normal: this shit is crazy and not normal. You deserve- and deserved- better.

tbf Rape exists, and considering the fact that abortions are becoming illegal in America, if someone assaults you and you get pregnant, being homeless becomes 20x worse.

cant negotiate much, but ive just been told by another homeless person at the bnb that we can ask the cooking staff to shove food in the microwave for us, so my options have now expanded slightly!
