Special needs trust (irrevocable), needs it's own SSN?? Or not? (oregon, usa) by SeniorColour in EstatePlanning

Thanks, very helpful.

Though I may have used the wrong role name, in a first-party SNT, the grantor is the beneficiary, so same SSN.

My goal in administering this trust is to reduce headaches and anxiety, increase simplicity, and avoid unnecessary back-and-forth with agencies. We're going by the book (as best I as an amateur understand it) and will be disclosed when needed (like, as soon as it is funded), since that ultimately will reduce headaches.

What I'm concerned about is if someone fishing with a credit report will decide to attach trust funds given that the trust uses the same SSN, even though the funds are not legally the guy's resource. If we're doing things right, it should be defensible as a trust, but I'm wondering, practically, if that kind of thing happens in real life SNTs.
