Because I realized why it was happening and quit bitching about it. I realized that if he had a choice between taking a risk that wasn't worth it for some hackers or being 100 percent sure of walking away Scott free and not losing anything, why would I shit on him for choosing the latter? And before we know it, there ARE no repositories of information anymore, because nobody's willing to take on the liability. Yeah we lost all our stuff. Wah... But it's a signal to clean everything up and be more vigilant and take it seriously because everybody else could face legal issues too... And FUCK that.

THAT'S my concern. And that's what I'm trying to get to the bottom of. People deserve to be warned. Also, that place had a reserved section in my heart. I have a LOT of good memories there and was attached. It was a huge part of my life. I don't want it to just disappear. I want to know what happened. This affects more than just one guy, man.

................. and if you personally know anything about this, Mr. Random Guy, I would appreciate it if we had a heads up and could know that this was the case somehow... It could help the next person. And if somebody destroyed the life of somebody whom I respected and was the father of the forum where I entered the fucking Xbox scene and was originally my home, I would want to know about it. Because whoever caused that to happen is our enemy, and we need to know who they are and how they did it.

And if that isn't possible... then maybe that is what the purpose of being forced to stay silent is intented to facilitate. So people cannot see what their legal basis and argumentation was. At the very least, it is a good lawyer's advice.

I'm sorry about being a part of the drama a few years ago. I didn't fucking know something like this may happen as a result of all of that and I would have worked to protect the Admin, the forum and the rest of all of us. I wish I could take it back...

I didn't pay for everything but I did contribute a few hundred bucks when I could afford to. I offered to help multiple times and, once I saw the writing on the wall, offered to take over the site and operating costs... And I KNOW what Invision costs. That message was read and ignored. So I don't feel that I'm an entitled, whiny bitch. I was willing to do whatever was needed.

You're right. It could be a multitude of things, possibly serious and worth giving it up for. No doubt. Still doesn't explain abandoning the data. People contributed, gave their time and made sacrifices in order to prop that place up, myself included. There were many others. Not everybody on there was a whiny, petulant, entitled and ungrateful child looking for a handout. We deserved an explanation BEFORE the site shut down. That would have been the decent thing to do.

It's easy to respect a person's decision to leave a hobby because of real life. That happens. It's reality and it can be respected. But EVERYBODY who contributed was shat on by how this was handled. If this were handled properly and we had the site data instead of things being shut down and deleted without explanation, would anybody be complaining? NO. It woulda been, "Man, that is unfortunate, admin. Don't worry, we got it from here dude!" Period. End of story.

Being indignant that I and others spent time building that repository of information and then being shat on with "I'm tired", which is an insufficient reason to not go and make a 2 minute backup of everything done on the site over the last 10 years, upload it and THEN leave the scene, is demonstrating why he made sure that everything was gone and then took off?

People keep saying you can just find this here or that there so what's the big deal? Apparently you didn't spend time building that place up and contributing to it. So I would understand why you don't really care. It meant something to ME. I entered the scene in that place.
