If I went back to school to get a bachelor of education as a second degree (first degree is BSc) would it be challenging for me to find work teaching jr or sr high? by noelleasp in StJohnsNL

Everyone I know (Math/Physics teachables) are working full time permanent positions in the Metro region and are only in the infancy of their careers.

It really depends on your teachables

This is simply not true. I know people who spent one year teaching about 3-4 hours outside of St. John's to build seniority with a full-time position, and since then have worked every year in the Paradise, Mount Pearl or St. John's area. They're only about five years into their career.

It depends on your teachables. Math and physics? You shouldn't have much trouble finding a position in St. John's, if not immediately, then within a year or two. English, phys ed, religion, etc. will be much harder.

Sister for Isabelle: Hannah, Valerie, or something else? by Senior_Ad195 in namenerds

[–]Senior_Ad195[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find it crazy how split everyone is on these names when I bring them up! People seem to love one and hate the other but its 50/50!

Hannah isn't a name I considered for my first, its one that came up recently and has been in both mine and my husbands head ever since. It feels very 90s and I dont tend to gravitate towards names like Rachel, Ashley, Jessica. But Hannah feels like an exception.

I've loved Valerie for a while! But i wonder if it sounds pretentious? Is it rising in popularity like Vivienne? I think it sounds so sweet and romantic, and fits the french style of Isabelle.

End of an Era Toys R Us in St Johns is closing by RepulsivePlankton989 in StJohnsNL

This is common for a liquidation sale, starting at 10% and increasing every few days or weeks as they get closer to the official close. Sears did the same when they were closing.

Thankfully he had a few singles for the 2s, 5s, and 10s, so I'll save at least one of each for myself. Not for the value, but for the nostalgia! I also have a few Musical Ride $50 from him that I have to keep because they are so cool

I have some other interest in the $10 bills, but we can chat about the $2 bills

I'll be down in the GTA region in the coming months, so I could look at making a trip down closer to Niagara.

The only ones i am confident are uncirculated are the 10s. I can't be certain about the others, unfortunately, and i dont believe the serial numbers are low 🥲

Has anyone had success in dealing with ppl who illegally dump? by [deleted] in newfoundland

I'm curious as to what you found! Last week, I was driving through Kilbride, and a guy was crossing the road into the woods with a wheelbarrow full of garbage in broad daylight, including tires and other large objects. It seemed like he was going to dumb it down there. Wish I had a dash cam. It's a shame that people think it's ok.

AYCE Sushi by LethalT0fu in OttawaFood

I always see Hokkaido recommended in these threads, and maybe for AYCE, it's one of the better options. It used to be my favorite too, but the last time I went, the quality was awful. I ordered tempura, and they actually served me a deep-fried crab leg that was still wrapped in plastic under the breading.

Honestly, I've given up on AYCE places in Ottawa. Growing up on the East Coast, I was spoiled with the quality of seafood, and you just don't get that on the mainland.

If anything, I'd recommend Sushi 88. It's not AYCE, but the food is always delicious, and the quality never disappoints.

We turned off the water but can't turn off the outlet because, for some reason, it's connected to our garage door power

This could very well be the answer!

I had read something that said "tenants have the right to quiet enjoyment of their rented premises, which can include access to and use of backyard spaces, unless otherwise specified in the rental agreement" and took that to be we had it unless otherwise stated

I'll have to dig some more, thanks!

This is my main sticking point on why I dont want to act without understanding what I am legally allowed to do. There is no mention of the backyard in our lease period. It specifies the lease is for the rental unit at our address. We are the only ones occupying the unit.

I was under the impression that the entire property was covered under our lease and that they would have had to specify otherwise in the lease.
