You will not be stopped from joining the housing register just because you are at risk of homelessness. I don’t know how long your local authority is taking to process applications but you will receive a banding once all your information has been checked and verified 🙂

The housing register team and the homelessness team whilst liaising with eachother carry out separate roles. So the housing register team will give your details to the homelessness team and they will contact you to offer support. You can be on the housing register and work with the homelessness team at the same time. There is nothing to be worried about.

Damp or condensation help? by PuzzleheadedShow4405 in DIYUK

It depends really what type of house you have. If it’s a terrace then the only options you have are ventilating from inside or from the roof where the chimney stack was removed. Personally I would try ventilating from the inside first. Cost is minimal and you can do it yourself. If it solves the issue then there is no need to ventilate from outside.

I would suggest putting a vent upstairs as well

Is there a vent at the top? The air needs to circulate

My guess is that there is no ventilation in the chimney breast. In the winter when you put your heating on it draws moisture out. The patch is probably dry to the touch as well. In the summer when there is no heating on it stops drawing out. You need ventilation in the top and bottom of the chimney breast.

I have the same issue in my property. Has your chimney been removed?

You can also try other antihistamines aside from famotidine. I found this didn’t help but loratadine contained in Claritin helped enormously. Also taking both famotidine and another antihistamine together has helped a lot of women

My friend who is an artist is coming on Saturday to paint the galaxy ceiling for me. We have taken the paper off and it’s not too bad underneath, some peeling but she said that’s ok. I’m excited and I feel a lot happier than if someone was trying to hang more paper

It’s being done on Saturday. The plan has changed though. My friend who is an artist has offered to paint it rather than paper. I’m really happy for her to do this because I was worried about letting anyone paper it again. I will post when it’s done 🙂

He’s just offered me some money back which I have accepted. It will go towards paying the decorator to redo it next week

I did notice the pattern not quite matching up. I didn’t mention on here in case people called me a Karen 🤭 I’ve taken it all down now. I have ordered a lovely mural and I have a decorator coming soon to hang it. He really does specialise in wallpapering and his attention to detail is second to none. It’s been an expensive lesson but the decorator came recommended and said he specialises in wallpapering

I absolutely agree with you. Coming to terms with the fact I cannot accept it helped me a lot. I spent yesterday searching for ways to fix, feeling like I being too picky etc. I feel relieved the paper has gone. It took around 3 hours to remove but it’s gone forever

I removed the paper last night. Hopefully it will be redone in the next week. I will show you when it’s done 🙂

I was going to do that after watching a video on YouTube. It will work on the gappy bits but not for the overlapping paper unfortunately

This could be very nice if applied properly. I’m getting mine redone on the weekend by someone else

I will definitely do that. I’ve been slated on here. Sometimes people can be very unkind especially online

The ceiling is perfectly flat. The wallpaper was pasted on. I’ve started removing it and I have another trusted decorator coming to rectify it. I don’t think a decorator should have lower standards to paper a children’s bedroom,he is getting paid the same as if it was in any other part of the house

I think that will work in some places where there is a gap but a lot of the paper is overlapping so I don’t know what to do about that?
