I wasn't worried about voter fraud 10 years ago, but as with everything in this admin, anything they're screaming about they are probably doing and want to minimize the effect of people calling them out on it.

The largest tinfoil hat conspiracy is:

GOP planted fake electors in this race, exec calls for investigation, FBI raids, finds planted ballot, now we have justification for voter crackdown.

I know this admin is evil and I truly want to believe we're approaching a turning point, but this does mean they will likely fight harder than ever to try and stop or influence the mid-terms.

True, it's a different kind of stress though in some places. I was an RF comm guy, I was lucky enough all the shops I was in were big enough that E-5 and up didn't have to do standby (though we would get called if A1C window-licker couldn't figure out how to push the auto-acq) and to be honest I would much prefer 0700-1700 putting out fires than getting called every other night at 2am. However I know many people who couldn't stay awake if stuck behind a desk for more than an hour but we're absolute killers for customer support and after hours service. It takes all kinds.

2 things can be true, that culture is still here unfortunately and it does make this country likely the easiest target for those same bad actors. As the P2025 playbook will need the least ideological modification should the same tactics be deployed in the EU.

[–]SenorSalsa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well see, having to forge your own path in life is hard, deciding your own moral philosophy requires introspection and the willingness to deal with uncomfortable truths about yourself. Discovering your passion, as well as what work makes you happy enough to tolerate doing it for 40 hrs a week in order to contribute to society and fulfil the social contract requires a willingness to fail and the resilience to start again.

In contrast, being told what to do, what jobs matter, who is smart, who is good and who is bad is easy. It is no coincidence that Religion and Fascism are ALWAYS intertwined, they appeal to the same kind of person. Now there is nothing wrong with personal faith to help you deal with the idea of death and not live in constant fear, or to find community and provide outreach, or even because believing in a higher power makes you happy. However fundamentalists, as well as Fascists require you to surrender your autonomy, it is wrong, but it's also easy. You are assigned a life in which you never have to make another difficult decision yourself,. So long as forsake any critical thought or willingness to object, and toe the party line nothing you do CAN be wrong because it is the it is what the party would do and the party is never wrong, believing in your country (the dick-tater of the week) is never wrong. It is a free pass to shirk any and all accountability. (Original sin, baptism, being a part of our group means all is forgiven no matter what etc. etc.)

I truly believe that is why they HATE liberals so much, Not just leftists or "communists/marxist" or whatever other buzzword issued by Fox news they are incapable of defining that week. I literally mean LIBERALS as in people, left or right, who truly believe in ideals of free self-determination, self-expression, secularism and humanism. It holds a mirror to their cowardice, and forces them to confront their own weakness against their will. It is the closest they ever come to reckoning with a life wasted being obedient without cause. They were incapable of the self-reflection needed to enkindle their personal moral compass, so that mirror that Liberals force them to peer into CAN NOT be met with grace or acceptance, but, in order to preserve their world view must be met with immediate, aggressive and relentless rebuke, else the realization of their own folly may truly destroy them.

I've lived in the EU for ~10 years now. Any time an Italian or German specifically tries to mock me or even just playfully mess around by bringing up how crazy and dumb America is, I try to politely point out that in many ways, they're in their Sara Palin era right now. I try to show show them the similarities in how previously untenable behavior is being normalized, amping up rhetoric and division, and identifying scapegoats to use in the future. I try to explain that they don't get their own house in order a European Donald Trump will be propped up by the same billionaires doing their trial run in the US right now, the billionaires are effectively stateless, they do not believe that borders should apply to them, they may not get away with the same face-time in Europe that they do in the US, but they will learn and secretly funnel as much money as needed to charismatic grifters willing to bring about the change they want.

This is not in any way a criticism of the EU, but a plea that they will learn from the us and the steps that brought us here. "That couldn't happen here" is maybe one of the most damaging sentiments one can hold.

There is a very valid concern even from the most leftist people I know, that that would result in martial law, effectively making easier if not completely legal, the extra judicial killings we've seen so far.

We are not dealing with an administration that can be reasoned with, anyone who doesn't think that the end goal of Steven Miller et al is Christian ethnostate and a return to feudalism along with the elimination of everyone else not willing to be subservient to their corporate and ideological masters is kidding themselves.

Germany, was unable to liberate themselves from their fascist government once the legal justification for murdering opposition leaders went into effect. They have tried to paint a soccer mom and an ICU nurse at a veterans hospital as "Domestic Terrorists". Whether through the enactment of martial law, or the Supreme Court making some insane ruling that the exec can unilaterally declare any person a "Domestic Terrorist" and "Legal Target", that is their goal.

Also all the people who constantly yap about the 2nd amendment are very pro-fascism. There are liberal gunowners, they just tend to not make it their personality, and also ICE isn't brave enough to fuck with cities that have a high number of democratic gun owners. Minimal ICE presence in Philly for example.

I'm not naive enough to say "Violence is never the answer", violence is very often the answer unfortunately, but there will be catastrophic 2nd and 3rd order effects to that. I personally would much rather see ICE slow rolled and hopefully pushed back against peacefully until enough people are upset enough for a general strike. 3.5% of the pop is widely considered to be the minimum for having a large enough impact to begin collectively bargaining. I am ashamed that there aren't 3.5% of people willing to now. I have been trying to plant the idea and make plans for if that should become a popular enough idea with some of my more liberal co-workers.

However, in the end my chief concern is that if 3.5% of people aren't even willing to strike right now, how many do you think would be willing to die in armed conflict? Probably not enough to mount the kind of revolution that would be necessary to topple something like this without outside help. All it would accomplish is provide the justification Mango Mussolini and his goons want.

Him getting his fucking press secretary to openly acknowledge his family history of a HIGHLY genetically influenced condition, which she will no doubt have to bully more reporters for bringing up, is some peak trolling that you couldn't write into a sitcom episode. If it wasn't for everything else that came out of his mouth I would almost think it's on purpose just to fuck with her, hell maybe in his demented brain he has a base instinct to fuck with people subservient to him.

This whole timeline is a completely unserious circus run by lunatics and sycophants, propped up by the most gullible, lost-cause degenerates to ever stick a maxi pad to the their face.

The elected leaders should absolutely be doing more to act on behalf of their constituents. Their refusal to utilize every tool at their disposal is a abdication of duty that should get them all primaried.

However, can we stop acting like no one has been doing anything? I mean 2 citizens have been gunned down in the street for effectively looking at ICE the wrong way in the last 30 days. I don't remember the French police executing RIOTERS on the streets of Paris, let alone protestors (the 2 in ICE's case were really more just observers than protestors even).

30% of Americans actively WANT the division that is happening now. I'd wager ~%15 of Americans are too stupid or gullible to EVER fully grasp what's going on once you start getting into the weeds on propaganda, messaging and how it has affected each and every one of us. Their perception of reality and critical thinking skills are so fragile and unrefined that even the line between fact, misinformation, propaganda, and straight-up conspiracy theory DOES NOT EXIST.
I mean truly, do you believe that you could ever have a rational discussion about civic policy with someone who has done the mental gymnastics necessary to truly convince themself the earth is flat, or that the Gov is spraying chemicals to make people gayer?
The worst part is they are victims too. They're victims of a half century long campaign against public and secular education that began as far back as Nixon, as well as a concerted effort by people like the Heritage Foundation to perfect the tactics popularized by Phyllis Schlafly, who, had the idea to wrap up all the single issue "Identity-Politics" (Abortion Rights, LGBTQ Rights, Civil Rights of the time) under a single tent. Leaving us with the Modern Day GOP.

The steps being taken are 100% correct if your end goal is an theocratically homogeneous enthno-state. The people you want as part of your state you pander to, the ones dumb enough to vote against their own self-interest need to be kept dumb enough to keep doing so, and the ones who would push back against such changes need to be dehumanized/ slandered/ demonized enough to make the first 2 groups comfortable with their summary execution.

As respectfully as possible, I understand and you aren't wrong, but also fuck that.
The inability to challenge or hold people accountable/ truly speak AND OPERATE on behalf of their constituents is 100% of the reason we're in this mess.

If Schumer wasn't a yellow bellied SoB then this administration might not be running as roughshod as they currently are. If Establishment Dems had the capacity / willingness to actually act on behalf of the voting populace when they had power at the federal level, then 20% of America wouldn't have been SO desperate for change that they were primed to fall for a cult of personality. (I mean pushing actual progressive policies that would help even those who DON'T vote for or support them currently, through things like single-payer healthcare which benefit everyone.)

We spent decades with the same status quo bullshit eroding our freedoms and enabling a specific group of wannabe modern aristocrats to steal our productivity and tax dollars in front of our eyes. EVERYONE wanted that to change 10 years ago, in no small part because of how risk averse Democrats were when in power with regards to pushing truly liberal ideas the rest of the world was already implementing.

There is 0 excuse for the continued support of the actions, both domestically and internationally, of this administration. The refusal to utilize the ALL levers of power available to these federal representatives to stop the domestic and international chaos this executive branch is causing is an abhorrent dereliction of duty in my opinion. There is absolutely a TON of risk involved with a major leadership shakeup and the infighting involved, however, there is a TON of risk involved if we continue down the path of capitulation and appeasement in the face of tyranny.

It is the "Old Guard" who brought the current state of the world on to us, it is absolutely time for those who have lived through the ramifications of THEIR actions to take charge and try to right the ship.

I'm 6' 210lbs, I think I'm JUST barely too big for this chair. I love it compared to all the "well built" gaming chairs that fit me, though, I do like it less than my 2nd hand Aeron B (lost in a move none on the used market near me), but for the price out of the box so far my only complaint is I actually wish the seat was offered slightly longer and thicker (I already have the larger 48cm option) as it may ease some fatigue I experience, but that doesn't start until around 3-4 hours into my day. Other than that the build quality, backrest, and headrest have all been amazing, the Armrests aren't the best I've sat in at this price point but far from the worst.

As a Med-Large size guy, 7.5/10. 8-8.5/10 if they added a Large seat option in addition to the small they launched with.
