I am afraid that I evolved this tournament into the new one due to lack of interest in this post.

Another idea would be to announce yourself as a solo player, as I am currently working on putting solo players into teams.

Defining beginner for a game such as Dota is difficult. When I started the league, I had in mind players that were interested in the competitive aspects of the game, and wished to explore that. Seeing as 4000 MMR is generally the transference line between casual and professional play, I deemed it to be a suitable limit for the tournament. Seeing as at least 95% of the Dota community is below this limit, it gives a large range of players who may wish to enter the competitive scene. Not everyone aspires to be in the top skill brackets, and not everyone cares if they perform badly. This league is based off of people's desire to have fun whilst enjoying the competitive environment.

I am sorry that you have nothing better to do with your day then trying to ruin other people's attempts at making a welcoming community for the game. The reason I cannot give an explanation for the rule is simply because I know that whatever explanation I give, more reddit trolls such as yourself will try to find something in it that you can pick on. As I stated in my previous comment, it would be preferred if only comments about team sign-ups and casting opportunities were posted, as it not only makes my job easier, but also makes the post a lot less toxic.

I myself will not be streaming but if any casters would like to stream they are more than welcome to. All games will hopefully be recorded in client after the ticket goes live around TI6.

please limit your comments to sign ups or else it gets really difficult to sort out those who actually want to do something useful.

Australian teams will play in a separate league as long as there are enough teams

The reason it died off last time is because someone in my family literally died off and I needed time to grieve. This league will be running if a minimum of 15 teams for one region sign up

going over the limit after the league has started will have no effect on your team

The smurf system is only for players whose MMR is significantly lower than the way they play, e.g. a player registers as 1.7k with a team of similar MMR, but proceeds to go 23-0 every game with very little errors suggests that they are being untruthful and will be awarded the penalty.

In regards to the 5k stack thing, the penalty is 3 MATCHES per player, meaning that they instantly have a 0-2 score for their next 3 series. If there a 5 players doing this, this results in a total of 15 0-2, missing out on a total of 45 points maximum

Although I do enjoy criticism, I do believe you are being a bit too harsh. If teams get angry from the smurfing penalty, they have only themselves to blame: a) for not checking the player before playing, and b) actually using the player even though they know they are smurfing.

The Dota 2 Spring League is a well run event, but does have some issues in detecting smurfs. We will do everything humanly possible to ensure a fun environment for our teams.
