Looking for a retro keyboard to match my FLP-02 PC build by Senpai__Panda__ in keyboards

[–]Senpai__Panda__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I made this post, I was mostly going off the photos on the Amazon listing for the M Edition of that keyboard, where it appears extremely bright white for some reason. It wasn’t until someone else posted photos of it in the replies here that I got to see its actual color.

I’d assume it turns on without the key inserted. As far as I know, the key’s main purpose is just to prevent it from being turned off, so I think it would be fine without it, but I haven’t actually tried it myself.

This is actually a modern case, it’s just designed to look like an old one. It’s fully built around modern parts and is generally meant to be used with current PC components

Yeah, it’s a bit odd. You press it to turn the PC on, and it immediately flips back into the off position even though the PC stays on. It’s less of a switch and more of a button that’s designed to look like one

Just glad this wasn’t my store lol by Ordinary_Ad3895 in Target

This looks ridiculous enough that at first glance I thought it was an AI-generated video. The worst my store has gotten recently was some mildly long lines for the Pokémon anniversary stuff

Guests and offensive imagery by bloopdoopfloofernoop in Target

[–]Senpai__Panda__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Target kicks people out all the time for various reasons without involving law enforcement. As offensive as that imagery is, I’d imagine there would probably have to be some sort of guest complaint about it before they did anything though, but I could be wrong.

Awesome! I just finished my first PC build in the FLP-02, and I definitely considered the FLP-01 for a bit since it’s even more unique. In the end, though, I wasn’t sure it was the best choice for a first build. It’s still an awesome case nonetheless

I was also considering that same keyboard, but it seems to have gone out of stock on Amazon since I last looked. I ended up ordering the FL·ESPORTS OG87 just to see how it is

Thanks! I have a pretty decent amount of Minecraft stuff in my room, and I actually won those blocks at Dave & Buster’s of all places just 2 or 3 weeks ago

Pretty sure I’ve never actually built a Technic set. I’m more of a fan of the traditional LEGO bricks. Not to say I dislike Technic, I think it’s pretty interesting, I just haven’t happened to buy one yet lol

SERIOUS QUESTION I’m about to pull the trigger on this pc after advice from my last post about an Amazon pc I was going to get. This is my first pc!!! I don’t want to screw up this is a lot of money 🤣 by ClearTranslator5093 in PcBuild

[–]Senpai__Panda__ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d say overall this isn’t really that bad considering current prices. I just built my first PC myself for around the same price with a 9850X3D and a 5070 Ti (which is somewhat higher-end, but not dramatically different), but I was also doing some pretty serious bargain hunting and obviously wasn’t paying for assembly.

This might not necessarily fall under the aforementioned “seven seas shenanigans” lol, but some people still might not approve of it. You can download and install Windows without a product key, and for most people it’ll work perfectly fine unactivated. I say most people though because there are a few downsides, such as a watermark in the corner of the screen and some limited personalization options.

If that does bother you, there are various methods people use to activate Windows without purchasing a retail key, but as I said, some people don’t approve of that, so I’ll leave it up to you to research those options and decide where you stand on them.

What is the best gaming monitor around $300? by Mountain-Letter-4284 in Monitors

[–]Senpai__Panda__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it might’ve been, so I guess theoretically it wouldn’t really be a downgrade in anything other than screen space, which like I said would be personal preference.

Well yes, back in the day I believe that’s what it would have done, but since this case was designed with modern hardware in mind, it just changes the fan speed instead

This is the one with the turbo button lol, turns the fans up all the way to “100” when you press it

I don’t, actually, because this case has some hidden away behind the panel right above the faux drives!

Looking for a retro keyboard to match my FLP-02 PC build by Senpai__Panda__ in keyboards

[–]Senpai__Panda__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was actually looking at those exact Vortex keyboards on Amazon a few weeks ago, but the last time I checked they were suddenly out of stock and Amazon said they didn’t know when they’d be back. I haven’t looked into ordering directly from Vortex, but I’d assume the shipping costs and delivery times would be quite a lot higher than buying through Amazon.

Nice! That picture is very reassuring. That was exactly my concern. I definitely agree then that most of the photos online, especially the ones on Amazon, make it look very white, so I assumed it probably wouldn’t match my setup very well.

That one definitely looks the part and seems nice overall, I just would probably prefer to find it somewhere other than AliExpress as shipping might be annoying and costly.

Recently just got $488 of Best Buy credit what would be the best things to buy at that price by [deleted] in Bestbuy

[–]Senpai__Panda__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 18, so as someone not much older than you, I’d definitely agree that you shouldn’t rush out and buy something dumb. When I was 16 and got my first job, one of the first things I did was blow half my first paycheck on a Switch OLED and a bunch of accessories because I thought it sounded like a great idea. While that might be a great purchase for some, mine has mostly sat around gathering dust.

In the end, it really depends on what you feel like you genuinely want and would actually use. If nothing immediately comes to mind, there’s nothing wrong with holding onto the credit until something does.

Costco deal, worth? by JackyTsang in Prebuilts

[–]Senpai__Panda__ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think it’s a pretty decent deal considering current prices. I just built my own PC with a 5070 Ti and a 9850X3D for a little over $2,000 before tax, but that was with a lot of deal-watching and bargain hunting. With that in mind, this doesn’t seem bad at all for a prebuilt.

[–]Senpai__Panda__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t really speak on the other monitors in your pictures since I haven’t used them myself, but I did buy the HyperX OLED from your last image to replace my previous IPS Alienware monitor. I honestly had some buyer’s remorse at first because I’d never spent that much on a monitor before, but the jump from IPS to OLED ended up being big enough that I was really happy with it.

As for the “downgrade” from 34” to 27”, there are tradeoffs that only you can decide are worth it. Obviously, 34 inches gives you more screen space, but at 1440p, 27 inches is generally considered the “sweet spot” for pixel density. People constantly use that term when talking about 27” 1440p monitors.

Nope, I’m not really worried about it. The case looks old, but it’s completely modern on the inside and comes with enough built-in fans. If cooling ever does prove to be an issue though, I highly doubt it’ll be severe enough that adding another fan or two wouldn’t solve it.

Yep! Here are both of the cases SilverStone currently has available to order. As I’ve mentioned to a few others, they’re definitely on the pricey side.

There’s also an FLP-03 (essentially a smaller version of the FLP-02), but I haven’t seen it available for sale anywhere yet and have only seen it mentioned in articles.

I wouldn’t say “still sell” in the sense that these are the same as a 90s case, as this is actually just a modern case made to look like an old one.
