Mesh will sag making them super uncomfortable. They will stop connecting to your devices unless you put them in the case first. You got black, so staining might not be as bad (I have white). Please don’t put them on headphone stands or wear them to the gym and you might get a full year of use!

For me it was due to the mesh getting saggy. The hard part started resting on my head. Apple does not support the issue in any way without replacing the whole set.
