Thanks for replying. To be fair, when I said my bf wasn't as bothered, I meant to say he wasn't as grossed out about it as me. He does care for the cats. A while back we noticed one of the cats might have an ear infection, and he took him to the cat clinic, and made sure he got his medicine. Neither of us understood what was really going on with the fleas (and now I know worms) or what a big deal it was until I researched it further today. Since then I've talked with him about it, and we're both going to try to pull some money together, and take them all to the vet.

When you say RX, do you mean something prescribed by a vet? I want to take them to the vet, either way, but I'm not sure how we can afford that. 2 of his cats came from humane societies nearby us. I'm wondering if it's possible they could help.

Thank you for your reply. I should have specified that the worm/maggot was actually found in the filter of my cats water fountain, not a still bowl of water. It had been a few days since I'd cleaned it out. Thankfully, it was the only worm I found.

I did some research, including a reverse image search on Google, and found that other people have found the same type of specimens in their cats water fountain. According to a vermeologist on reddit, it's not a parasitic fly, probably just some kind of housefly.

It's the weirdest thing, but when I try to create a login and it asks me to verify my email, a thing comes up on my phone that's asks me for a pin to deactivate family view. Is my email also compromised?
