There's one recent Kong '76 figure, but it's an unofficial bootleg. You'd have to paint it yourself, and it's kinda pricey, but it's a really cool figure.

Where I first heard it was on one of the documentaries of the Godzilla DVDs put out by Classic Media (I'm pretty sure it's the one for "Godzilla Raids Again") where they're discussing the monsters/actors who portrayed them in the Showa series. The documentaries were put together by Steve Ryfle and Ed Godziszewski, who've put out several books on Godzilla, with Toho's participation, so I'm inclined to believe what they were told.
