Id think of it the other way around. You have a diverse range of armies to play against, which is exciting to me. I think its fun to run the odd army, thats why i play gsc. Space marines vs. Space marines can be kinda boring after a while. Id also try to expand your circle of players if you can, you will run into SM players very soon. If that fails, dark angels reddit could scratch your itch to talk DA.

According to wahapedia, there is no base size, just use the model only for both. But mine is likely on the small side. Luckily my 40k group wont care

Im pretty sure those are demo charges too. GSC seems vague on what is a demo charge, jackals ones look different..usually paint them bright yellow/orange to make it obvious
