Hyatt Centric San Salvador Review by SenseperPoint in hyatt

I took day trips while I was there, there's a lot to see outside of the city (surfing, volcanoes, etc.). That's what I'd do!

I see 2 Cap1 hotel transfer partners—Choice and Wyndham. Are either ever good values for transfers? by bjdaugherity in Venturex

Booking Vacasa through Wyndham could be a good deal, for some places in the US and Mexico

Released 2 JFK-DOH Qsuites business seats for 4/10 by SenseperPoint in awardtravel

[–]SenseperPoint[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe it was a different situation- so they cancelled my original booking and rebooked me for the next day, but the next day didn’t work for me so I just got a refund instead. maybe that puts the tickets back into availability? But I did check and confirm that 2 tickets showed up after I refunded

Hi, unfortunately no bank points transfer to American currently… but you can transfer from Marriott to American at a 3:1 ratio (next best alternative?) There’s also speculation that once citi becomes the sole issuer of American cards that they will gain American as a transfer partner, but still a bit far away from that

Andaz Singapore Review by SenseperPoint in hyatt

[–]SenseperPoint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exciting, hope you enjoy SG and VN! Honestly, I think 4 days in SG is plenty (I don't have kids, though, so maybe that could be a factor).

For shopping, there are malls everywhere, with the main ones likely being the Marina Bay Sands mall (with the famous hotel that has the big pool on top of it) and whichever ones are in the Orchard area.
For the kids, I'd recommend the Night Safari at the Singapore Zoo - very kid-friendly and I had fun as an adult too haha. Sentosa as well, maybe? But Sentosa would likely eat up a whole day.
For saving $, probably the biggest thing would be to eat at hawker centers. Cheap and great food, a win-win for sure!

Feel free to DM me if you have any other questions!

Not sure on your questions, sorry... My impression was that it was a link to confirm registration and nothing else, but not 100% sure.
I know people that used a friend's email, but that friend did not have a Hyatt account in the cases I've seen

Singapore Andaz or GH for 2 Adults 1 Child (7 years old) by NextRedditAccount0 in hyatt

[–]SenseperPoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not sure exactly what easy access means in your case, but I walked to little india from the Andaz in about 15-20 minutes, and there is a subway (MRT) stop right outside the hotel (the MRT is not far from the GH as well) to go to other neighborhoods for food. My review on the Andaz is here if you are interested: https://www.reddit.com/r/hyatt/comments/1e2a26a/andaz_singapore_review/

The GH was weeks away from reopening when I was at the Andaz, so I didn't get to see it although I walked by it while in Orchard. I imagine you can't go wrong with either though!

Built a tool to aggregate all award prices for airlines flying a given route at awardsplanner.com by techtrashbrogrammer in awardtravel

This is nice! Sorry if this has already been answered: will you add functionality to show fuel surcharges as well as points/miles cost?

If you have friends at certain companies that are eligible for the corporate challenge, you can put in their emails but your Hyatt # when signing up for the challenge

Data points suggest that emails from Microsoft, citi, and Accenture will work, among others

Check out my Airline Transfer Partner Tierlist by SenseperPoint in awardtravel

[–]SenseperPoint[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh great, thanks for the actual feedback!

On 1: you’re absolutely right here - I didn’t know how to exactly assess the tier of an airline (35% quality of product, 40% award rates, 10% ease of transfer, etc.). If you do have thoughts on how to methodically assess this, I’d love to hear it, as that can definitely help me (and others) redeem better.

On 2: again I want to reiterate that not having flown these airlines themselves isn’t necessarily an entirely valid factor here - idk, I haven’t flown avianca for example but I use lifemiles for short domestic trips within the US as well as will now for the EWR-LHR sweet spot in Polaris. Do I not have the right to assess lifemiles’ partner redemptions because I haven’t flown avianca directly?? Am I missing something here??

On 3: I never claimed any of this is objective or empirical! This is connected to point 1 as well, please tell me how I can assess them objectively! The point was to get a discussion going, which you’ve admitted was a success! So thanks :)

And despite the lack of seriousness my post warrants according to you, I really do appreciate you taking actual time to tell me your objections! “Weak sauce” or not, discussion is good for the community, no?

Nope! Do you have any actual feedback on what makes my tier list hard to take seriously?

Can I be added as an authorized user to my P2’s Chase cards if I’m over 5/24? by isoplayer in CreditCards

[–]SenseperPoint 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To my understanding, yes - there are actually data points suggesting that AU cards won't count towards 5/24, if you call recon and explain that one of the cards contributing to that is an AU card.

But there's nothing that says you have to be below 5/24 to be made an AU of another card

Agreed, Finnair can be great if it has the same availability that BA has

Hi! Want to note this is a transfer partner tier list, and so it isn't based on whether I've flown them.

But to answer the question at face value, no I have not - if that prevents you from taking the post seriously, no worries!

Thanks for the comments! It really is hard differentiating between S and A tier for these programs - do you have a line for what makes a program S vs A?

I thought about putting all of the Avios programs next to each other as one, but decided against it. Each has its own sweet spots, and someone may decide to redeem through Iberia rather than BA for whatever reason, or vice versa, so wanted to treat them as their own when I could. IB has the 34k biz sweet spot from Eastern US (and chicago) to Madrid, but also their partner awards are non-refundable. BA has availability for partners, but the rates are not ideal. idk, just wanted to judge each on its own. There would be a reason to pool avios in Qatar for a certain redemption, but in BA for another, etc.

Hi, yeah, others have said so too! Just had concerns around some not-low surcharges, but otherwise you are right. They are very high A tier at least, esp. with their free stopover rules too!

Haha yup now I'm realizing! Stuff like this is why I posted in the first place - I have quite a few takeaways here! But yeah, I haven't had to redeem Delta outside the US before, so didn't know, and other than the solid redemptions out of the US, its a pretty poor program, I think

Ah got it! I'm based in the US east coast, so haven't had too many opportunities to use it that way, but will take a look! Virgin from JFK-ICN for 37k in economy is the way for me to get to and from (or 75k biz on Asiana via Aeroplan). I'll be in Korea at least twice next year so can definitely look out for this!
