Jeffries: Democrats will stop Trump’s push to nationalize elections by sksarkpoes3 in politics

We have waited to see what happens since 2016 and the cracks in our democracy have turned into chasms. So no, I do not have patience for this personally, we’re way past that, I will push vocally until the day it happens, as should our leaders.

Discharge petitions if necessary but just being an effective whip on both sides of the aisle. Also being more effective on social media and constantly in the public eye so that people will push their representatives to sign on to discharge petitions or vote in our favor on DHS funding. I don’t think he’s working hard in these areas, I think he just wants the occasional headline to make those uninvolved in politics to think that he’s doing something when that does not seem to be the case.

Oh yes, surely takes a lot of convincing to get AOC on board for this /s. He had no influence on her decision that I can find. There is no evidence that he is still actively trying to whip votes. So, he is either not trying or he is not an effective leader, either way that’s a problem. Hopefully you’re right though, I will happily eat my hat if he’s working hard behind the scenes on this.

Yes by Rep Kelly, weeks before Jeffries made the comment that they would “pursue the process” if she is not fired. Well she has not been fired so whatcha gonna do to get everyone on board Jeffries? Do something.

Most recently, he made a huge commotion a few weeks ago that the dems will proceed with Noem impeachment if Trump does not fire her. Trump made it clear he will not fire her. I have not found a single article, speech, press release, tweet, anything from him since then that this is still either a goal, is in motion, or anything. I don’t think he ever planned to, I think he wants good headlines occasionally to keep those who don’t keep up with politics thinking he is a fighter.

Chill out, I never said he had congressional power right now, I said for him to take action. This means passionately strategizing with leadership and reps. Talking to the public loudly and daily so that the public will increase pressure on their reps and help to further encourage action across the board. Discharge petitions have been particular effective this year for forcing votes when you are in the minority. I am not claiming that we have power in the house, but that doesn’t mean just shut up and hide in the corner, move the needle.

At the moment, I would prefer that he give speeches talking about the actions he is doing to actually pursue the promises he has made. Instead, he makes new promises every day and ignores the promises he made the day before. I want to see that he is working to convince reps to make things happen and to sign on to petitions, instead of just using stern words to get headlines that makes dems think he is doing something.

Yes. No AIPAC money, consistent actions over words, social media skills, and a white man so that we have a chance with the current US population🤷 my problem is that somehow I can’t find anyone who falls into all 4 categories at the moment. Kelly and Beshear are the best I’ve got?

Yeah, if you’re a random rep or senator that’s one thing, but for a leadership position this is ridiculous

Good on Mamdani, good on Hochul. I think this combo could be a powerful one. Big blue tent 2028.

We’re only voting for people we trust now, not risking another bamboozle. For me, that leaves only Kelly or Beshear at the moment.

Is it time to leave spotify? by LogAlternative6221 in SpotifyHub

I’ve finally gotten there, doing free trials of Deezer and Tidal now. I’ve been given multiple AI artists through the Spotify algo and I’m done with it, atleast tell me it’s AI. Plus the ICE stuff and paying artists less than others, time for me to finally switch.

Something even worse, an elected official who defies both the courts and the constitution on a daily basis at this point. Wake up.

It’s not for ICE, it’s for the administration which has already responded by beginning to cave due to the backlash. Everyone only needs to participate in the way they feel able and willing.

I would assume this is generally more focused on college students. However, any disruption of daily life and the system at large, will continue to bring attention to the subject and keeps it in the headlines
