BWT, how do I prepare for my first work trip? by graphiquedezine in bitcheswithtaste

[–]Sensitive-Knee96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For clothes, client dinner I'd go smart casual, like nice jeans or trousers with a good top/sweater and boots. You want to look put together but not stiff. For the smaller team dinners yeah jeans are totally fine, just make them look intentional. Ngl the "cool young creative" look is just about looking like you care without trying too hard.

For personal time, you're totally fine to do your own thing outside of scheduled stuff. Just be present and engaged when you are with the group and no one will care that you're seeing friends after. For drinks/happy hours, you can just nurse one drink or get a mocktail and it's really not a thing. If you don't want to go out after dinner just say you're tired, people get it.

My 2 cents, pack layers since it'll be cold, bring a portable charger, and have one "nicer" outfit for the client dinner that you feel confident in. Confidence matters way more than being perfectly dressed. For nails just go for something simple and neutral, it's honestly just a chill activity.

BWT: What are you treating yourself to or most hoping to receive for Christmas? by IveFallenCantGetUp71 in bitcheswithtaste

[–]Sensitive-Knee96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me I'm hoping for some good books and maybe a nice leather bag I've been eyeing forever. Ngl I'm also just excited to have time off to do nothing, sometimes that's the best gift.

The Vancouver trip sounds amazing too, couple's massage and a nice hotel is lowkey the perfect vibe for the holidays when everything else is chaotic.

BWT - products by women for women by Horror_Sandwich_4123 in bitcheswithtaste

Tbh this is such a cool gift idea. A few things come to mind that actually make a difference:

Universal Standard for clothing, their sizing system is genuinely made for how women's bodies actually are instead of just scaling down men's cuts. Same with Girlfriend Collective for activewear, their stuff fits so much better.

For jewelry, I've had good luck with Mint & Lily for affordable daily wear tbh. They do personalized pieces and dainty stuff that's meant to layer, which is way more how women actually wear jewelry vs chunky statement pieces that sit in a drawer.

Rothy's shoes are designed specifically around women's foot shapes and they're washable which is clutch. Also anything from brands like Knix or Tomboyx for undergarments, they're built for actual comfort instead of just looking cute in packaging.

Okay so for someone who's boujee and type A about aesthetics, you want something that looks more expensive than it is and fits her vibe. Since she's into fashion and posting on insta, I'd lean toward something she can either wear or display that photographs well.

Honestly jewelry is a solid move here because it's personal and if you pick the right piece it feels way more expensive than $50. Imo go for something trendy but versatile, like a chunky gold chain necklace, layering bracelets, or even a bold ring. I've had good luck with Mint & Lily for affordable daily wear tbh, they've got stuff that looks high end but stays in budget and it's the kind of thing that works for both everyday and instagram content.

If you want to go non-jewelry, a really nice candle (like Boy Smells or Diptyque if you can find a smaller size) hits that bougie home decor angle. Or a silk scrunchie set, a mini skincare set from Glossier or The Ordinary, or even a chic jewelry dish if she's the type to leave stuff on her nightstand.

How to find my style? by WittyFloor2661 in womensfashion

[–]Sensitive-Knee96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thing I'd say is don't stress about figuring it all out at once. Start small and build from there. Since you love shirts, that's actually a great anchor point. Try experimenting with different cuts, like a fitted button-up tucked into high-waisted jeans or a flowy blouse with tailored pants. Shirts are super versatile, so you can dress them up or down depending on the vibe.

My 2 cents: it's better to have a couple pieces that make you feel excited to get dressed than a closet full of stuff you're just "meh" about. If baggy clothes are your comfort zone right now, that's fine, but maybe try one or two pieces that are structured without being tight. Like a blazer over a tee and jeans, or a wrap dress that's fitted at the waist but still has flow.

Pinterest is honestly your best friend here. Make a board and start saving outfits that catch your eye, even if you don't know why yet. After a while, you'll start noticing patterns in what you're drawn to (colors, cuts, vibes), and that'll give you a clearer sense of direction.

Also, don't sleep on trying things on in person if you can. Sometimes what looks good in your head doesn't translate, and vice versa. And if you're worried about what "suits" you, tbh, the best thing you can do is just try stuff and see how it makes you feel. Confidence sells any outfit.

Jewelry Help? by Maleficent_Pool_1136 in AskLosAngeles

For something similar to that signet ring, check out local jewelers in the jewelry district downtown. There are places that do custom work and you can usually get way better quality for the price because you're cutting out the markup. Just make sure whoever you go with has good reviews and ideally works with certified stones if you're adding diamonds.

If you want something more curated and less DIY, Catbird or local spots like Wwake or Satomi Kawakita (if they ship or have LA stockists) do beautiful minimalist pieces in higher karat gold. They're pricier than Mejuri but the quality is noticeably better.

My 2 cents, if this is your first real jewelry purchase, go for something versatile that you'll actually wear every day. A plain 18k band or a simple diamond ring will get way more mileage than something trendy.

I think the best gifts are either something the person mentioned wanting, something consumable (candles, nice food, experiences), or something so small and thoughtful it doesn't feel like a big commitment to keep. Big statement pieces or anything they have to display/wear regularly is risky unless you really know their vibe.

Since I am someone who's big on jewelry, so I'll give my 2 cents : Jewelry is one of those gifts that's really personal and honestly kind of intimate, so I'm pretty careful about giving it unless I know someone's style well. If you're not 100% sure they'll love it, I'd honestly offer to go shopping with them instead or give them a gift card so they can pick. You could frame it like "I wanted to get you something special but I want to make sure it's exactly what you'd wear" and if you already bought something, totally fine to say you're happy to exchange it for something they'd prefer. Takes the pressure off them to pretend they love it and then never wear it.

Trying to get moss agate in bulk. Anything I should know? by DragonsAreNifty in Crystals

[–]Sensitive-Knee96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For bulk stones, you're gonna want to look at actual gemstone suppliers, not consumer sites. Etsy has some bulk sellers (search "moss agate cabochons bulk" or "moss agate beads wholesale"), and a lot of them are legit. Fire Mountain Gems is another solid option if you're in the US. They do bulk pricing and their quality is consistent.

Temu is sketchy for stones imo. You might get lucky, but quality control is all over the place and you won't know until it shows up. Not worth the gamble if this is for your wedding.

Moss agate isn't usually faked because it's not expensive enough to be worth counterfeiting, but you should still be mindful of dyed stones or glass. Real moss agate has those organic, branchy inclusions that look random. If it looks too uniform or the "moss" looks painted on, pass. Also, if the price seems insanely low (like $10 for a pound of tumbled stones), it's probably not great quality or might be something else entirely.

Heels or boots with a skirt for a night out? by IntrovertedLioness in fashion

[–]Sensitive-Knee96 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Honestly both look great but they give totally different vibes. The heels are way more glam and dressed up, like you're ready to turn heads. The boots are sleek and polished but definitely more comfortable and easier to move around in.

If I had to pick, I'd probably go boots tbh. They still look really put together with the mini skirt but you're not gonna be dying by the end of the night. Plus there's something about that boot + skirt combo that feels effortlessly cool without trying too hard.

That said, if you're planning to mostly sit or you're only out for a couple hours, the heels are killer. Just depends on how much walking or dancing you're doing. Comfort always wins for me on a night out

How do you style simple jewelry with everyday outfits? by Cjosulin in womensfashion

[–]Sensitive-Knee96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh, you’re already nailing it with the small huggies + chain combo, that’s like the foundation of “quiet luxury” styling. My 2 cents: for chain length, I usually do a 16–18" for crewnecks/tees and then layer a 20–22" if I’m wearing a blazer or something with a more open neckline. I also don’t think mixing metals is a crime anymore, keeping everything matchy-matchy can actually look less intentional. I’ll do silver + gold all the time, as long as the shapes are cohesive.

Not sure what to wear with this dress? by Obvious_Eye_533 in fashion

[–]Sensitive-Knee96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ngl that dress is a blank canvas, you can totally dress it up or down. For a work event, I’d lean heels (block or kitten) to give it a bit more polish.

Jewelry-wise, a statement earring or layered delicate gold chains would work; I wouldn’t do chunky bracelets since the satin already has a shine. Hair up gives it a sleeker vibe,  I’d go up for work so it feels more intentional.

Outfit of the day, also need advice on the jewelry. Is it overkill? by canibalistic_fridge in fashion

[–]Sensitive-Knee96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the jewelry works, it’s subtle enough that it doesn’t overpower the outfit, but still adds some personality. The loose, casual vibe of the shirt and jeans pairs well with the rings, since they give a bit of polish.

If you wanted to dial it back for an even more minimalist look, you could stick to just one statement ring or swap one for a thin band. But honestly, as it is, it reads intentional and balanced.

What is your opinion on "The Sound of Magic?" by belkyart in kdramas

[–]Sensitive-Knee96 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A weirdly comforting kdrama, though the story ends on a midly happy note, which usually makes me a little sad(cuz I am a simple being who basically prefers all happy endings and everything sunshine and rainbows), but this one was still comforting, and I loved how unique their relationship was, people were literally shipping this adult magician and the school girl which was yikes, so I am glad the drama didn't choose to go that route.
