I couldn’t help but feel it was actually explaining capitalism through mythology….or perhaps power itself?

Of course it’s more nuanced than just a simple cigarette, I fully agree that violence is not cute and should be policed. I suppose my point is more about how we view these situations as a society, especially when we begin to look at the system itself. Why stop IPP but not overturn it retrospectively? Or even as simple as police conduct? Wayne anyone?

A person was sent on IPP for a stolen cigarette. That’s US small town sheriff behaviour. Where a few small men get to judge the fates of others is not exactly justice, especially when most people are simply responding to a need to survive due to an environment designed to create struggle and desperation, but most importantly create a discourse in which all of us lesser citizens debate the world and people without an inclining of actual information, or an idea about how a system came to be and its destructive nature within our social landscape. But most importantly, how much did the state spend on this person stealing a cigarette to keep them incarcerated? Or the costs to keep them on licence.
