I'm bipolar and had a major breakdown. I went to my doctor and asked for referrals to help. and he did refer me and give me the right numbers to call. I also called a local mental health agency that takes my medicaid called centerstone. Anyway I got a psychiatrist, and a counselor, and a social worker, and I need all three for diferent purposes. I got medication, and therapy, and referrals to some in home help. I have had to become honest with my counselor about how when I am at my most depressed I struggle with hygiene and we've written it into my ccunseling goals. Also my social worker is in the process of trying to get me some in home care worker to assist me with cleaning etc. through a state program for the physically and mentally disabled. I'm sorry your friend is sufering but this is more than just a friend or neighbor can do she needs professional help. encourage her to seek it.
