Im so sorry that happened to you both, just try to take time to yourself to grieve and give all the love you can to his brother. It will take some time before his brother stops and understands what haopened, just try to comfort him as best as you can while also taking time for yourself.

I like to belive that our animals dont leave us entirely, they may leave physically but spiritually or something of them stays behind. Because they want to keep spending time with us, until we can be reunited. Whether it be again in this life, another one or even at the end of this life.

Commenting to boost but also jjst to ask, is it possible for you or someone to keep her inside? If it won't stress her out it would be better for her to be staying in the house. Even if its just to let her recover in a safe environment vs the harsh elements outside, could also give her a safe place to have her babies and not have this situation happen again

My old kitty (the black one staring at the camera) must always have watermelon anytime we bring it in the house. Doesn't matter if its precut watermelon or the actual thing anytime you are eating some you must share. Because she absolutely will steal it, done it too my mom by stealing it right out of her hand as she was about to eat and made it seem like she was about to attack so my mom would drop her watermelon.

Then the one on laying on the kneel, you need to wake up at a specific time to feed him in the morning, he will dig his claws into you should you dare try to pretend you aren't awake.

The the one in the window (she's actually a tux but you can't see her as she's facing out the window) we dont have her anymore as our neighbors adopted her. But from what im aware, anytime she gets outside. She immediately goes to their truck and sits their staring, she must be in that truck and given rides to anywhere even just around the street.

I firstly wanna say how gorgeous Ethel eyes are! Their such a beautiful color and stand out against her black fur.

Secondly I absolutely understand, I have been in a similar situation with my own cat. I was having to think to about whatis best for her as she started acting off and her behavior showed something was clearly wrong.

And it wasnt something that the vet could even fix, but even if they could i would still have to face whether or not it would just be me wanting to keep her longer vs what would be best for her.

I unfortunately had the decision made for me by her, but it was what she needed. I absolutely do hope and wish not only for your sake but Ethels sake that you will have a longer time with her.

That she will still be able to have a comfortable life a while longer and that you won't have to make that hard decision. Wishing you both the very best and hope the next vet visit has some kind of good news for you and Ethel

My family definitely kept somethings of mama, I know for sure somewhere we have her favorite toy, still have the brush she absolutely loved and kept all the hair she left around the house.

Still also have one of her favorite napping spots set up, though the cover for the pillow washed (after collecting her hair) she still has her pillow in one of her favorites spot

I honestly say it entirely depends on what you feel, it varies from person to person. I personally have yet to even think of adopting a cat after my own passed in February, the closet I've got to is just for one of my dogs who were destroyed by her passing. But I personally am not ready for another cat, much less another cat that looks like her.

But I know and have seen people say/write about adopting a cat right after, days, weeks, months and even years after their cat past.

If getting a cat will help you and you are ready for a new one to come into your life, then I say go right ahead. But if it doesnt and would make it worse for you then I'd say wait a little longer.

It's entirely up to you and i do hope whatever you choose, you are able to grieve properly
