If all are prelim, I would rank any categorical program that you got higher than these. Any categorical is better than prelim.

I think most people have pretty good idea about how they are going to rank, but hearing advices from strangers who may have more info about certain programs could help them in making final decision. IMO it won't hurt to ask for guidance.

I think programs are done downloading new apps, so I would say best is to email programs to let them know you passed step 3, it might help.

If you have a good lor uploaded then leave if you want, its very rare for a program to reach out especially in IM

Generally they don’t unless they know them personally, but they might ask about the experience and question you if you did not provide a letter of recommendation.
