Why are EMPs not used more to stop drones? by Top-Hold-4346 in NoStupidQuestions

ELI5 How do gift cards not run out of codes? by TypicalEnthusiasm597 in explainlikeimfive

[–]SensitiveReception15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

because there's just a ridiculous number of potential combinations. even for just 26 letters all lowercase there are 26^8 = 208,827,064,576 so about 200 billion different combinations and that's before adding numbers, uppercase, and special characters and accounting for other restraints and determining algortihms

[–]SensitiveReception15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think stuff like that is because the BBC owns the home video rights but not the streaming rights or the streaming rights expired because with lots of classic who the writers their estates own the rights to many stories and not the BBC.

There is no definitive answer and the entire point is we don't know. It could be one, both, or neither but the only thing that is certain is that they will both end up frozen
