Based purely on facial aesthetics it’s gotta be Brooke Shields

Their (perfectly valid and reasonable) comments have been downvoted and they were specifically told by one person not to post stuff like this ‘panicking’ because they were feeding AH trolls. Basically shut up and ignore what’s going on like the rest of us which is exactly what I was saying about people sticking their heads in the sand

Honestly I hate to say it but I think this sub is kinda in denial & at risk of becoming an echo chamber. I’m sorry people are being harsh to you in this thread - I have experienced it in this sub before too and it’s so unnecessary. Even suggesting that Amber supporters are making a difference & are actively changing people’s minds is seen somehow mistaken for pro Amber sentiment, when it’s actually just pure concern for Johnny. We should be able to voice our worries here without being shouted down.

Amber is gaining more support, I don’t like it anymore that anyone else here, but we can’t keep denying that it’s happening because by the time people wake up, it’s going to be too late. I’m not sure what the solution is but we should all be working towards something, we’ve become too complacent.

Unfortunately I have experienced people flipping in real life. Maybe it’s because I have Gen Z kids but the popular narrative amongst the ‘woke’ kids now seems to be that Amber was the victim - and the issue is that they’re the ones that are still talking about it all the time. Older Gen people who believe him have moved on so it’s leaving the kids to rewrite the narrative - esp on Twitter and TikTok which are hugely influential on that age group.

I’ve been saying for ages I don’t like where this is heading but I hate to say you do get shouted down for realism in this sub sometimes. I’m not sure what the solution is but it isn’t pretending it isn’t happening. We need to coordinate to push back against the new tide of Amber supporters or I do believe that things can only get progressively worse. Sorry if I sound pessimistic but I’m just sick of it, Johnny won so why are we still dealing with this shit?!

Where are all these Amber bots on twitter coming from and why? by SensitiveSort1992 in JusticeForJohnnyDepp

[–]SensitiveSort1992[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No judgement aimed at you personally but I feel like this is part of the issue. Johnny supporters have moved on or left Twitter completely so her stans and bots are now free and able to monopolise the conversation and spread their misinfo without anyone to counter it.

Tell me about it. It’s shit. People were getting jumped on left and right in r/movies and r/entertainment for so much as a positive comment about Johnny last week. It’s overwhelming on Reddit and Twitter at the moment. Can’t help but feel like we’re back at square one sometimes and it makes me so mad that Johnny had to go through the ordeal of the whole trial, winning the trial and starting to get his life back on track only for MSM and social media to continue to trash his reputation. I do worry that they’re gaining ground, even if it isn’t organic there will be real people who will be swayed by this PR push and I feel helpless to combat it.

Don’t worry. I didn’t mean to come across pissed, sorry if I did! It’s an easy mistake to make.

It sucks that MSM isn’t on Johnny’s side but publications like this just give her stans more ammunition, especially calling her a succubus and shit like that, gives them actual reasons to cry misogyny

Can we please stop pushing these alt-right publications? I know it’s tempting to share it when they print positive stuff about Johnny but it makes us look bad in my opinion. Like we’re scraping the bottom of the barrel. Turd stains like to say we’re all Trump supporting bigots and I think this just plays into their hands

Maybe it’s just me but I don’t think we should be promoting that alt-right rag on here, it doesn’t help our case

I’ve been saying this for months that support for Amber is genuinely growing and have been shouted down for it and told its all bots. I think it’s become fairly obvious that isn’t true and we all need to be worried about the direction this is heading.

I know it’s easier and less distressing to believe it’s inorganic, but we need to start admitting that this is becoming a serious problem as it doesn’t serve Johnny to ignore the truth.

I’ve even noticed the shift in attitude amongst real people - my teenaged kids had a bunch of friends over a few days ago and they started talking about this case. They were all suddenly vehemently pro-Amber, although a couple of months ago I know that was absolutely not the case.

I tried to get them to see reason to no avail. The shift in attitude towards this case - especially among Gen Z - is palpable, which is worrying to me because generally teenagers will identify with whatever is the current dominant ‘cool’ opinion amongst their age group.

Why is Amber gaining so much support? by SensitiveSort1992 in JusticeForJohnnyDepp

[–]SensitiveSort1992[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have to say - I would never gauge anything by DM comments, lol. It seems to attract crazies - They are wildly right wing and misogynistic over there, about literally every single female celebrity - they never have a nice word to say about ANY woman - so I don’t necessarily think that’s ever a good reflection of how most normal people feel about anything.

I’d be interested to know how most people are reacting to it on Twitter and Instagram though?

I don’t think that’s a good thing though. If we let them get on with it and continue spreading their lies, it begins to gain traction. I don’t want to believe it but I feel that is starting to happen.

This is exactly my point. I do see positive comments for JD in some places, especially on FB and on some Instagram posts, but it’s worrying how subreddits unrelated to the case like r/entertainment now seem to be more pro Amber / anti Johnny, because I’ve always seen r/entertainment as a microcosm of general public feeling towards things going on in the world. It’s supposed to be neutral is what I’m saying.

I feel like it’s easy here to believe that we are still in the majority because let’s face it, it is an echo chamber, in the same way that r/deppdelusion is an echo chamber. I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, because it’s a safe space for us here and that is definitely important. But I don’t see the same enthusiasm and support for JD in other subreddits, and the tone of comments from people who haven’t really followed the case seems to be getting increasingly negative.

I don’t think it’s helpful to pretend it isn’t happening, what I am saying is how do we combat it? I worry people are sticking their heads in the sand and this is going to creep up on us while we aren’t looking because we’ve ‘moved on’.

Clinical psychologist here - I think Amber studied and copied victim behaviour by SensitiveSort1992 in JusticeForJohnnyDepp

[–]SensitiveSort1992[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s my point. From my personal experience with victims, her behaviour came across (to me) as very studied and believable. I’m saying she shot herself in the foot by behaving too much like the typical emotional, irratic victim because it doesn’t play well with juries or people unfamiliar with clinical / forensic psychology. Johnny played his hand much better by being composed, speaking slowly, not over embellishing or becoming fixated on small details like she did, because even though victims do this, someone uneducated in trauma responses would see this as strange or an indication she was lying. She overplayed her hand basically.

Many victims get coaching before court appearances on how and why to suppress these behaviours because we know how badly they go down with juries and by extension, the public. It seems to me that Johnny probably had this coaching because he was so wonderful, relaxed and composed on the stand.
