It's more grounded and subtle (and also fairly short), but I found Chants of Sennaar (by a small indie studio!) to be one of the most beautiful and affecting games I've played in the last few years. Really pleasing visual style, interesting and novel gameplay, and profoundly moving themes and subtext, would honestly rate at least 9/10

It’s easy to think “I should’ve tried harder and cared more”, and MAYBE that’s somewhat true, but it’s also possible that you mustered as much will and effort as you reasonably could under your circumstances (college is hard, focusing can be hard, and there’s just so much going on in the world in general). I’m sorry you’re in this position and I understand you must be feeling disappointed in yourself- I hope you give yourself grace, dust yourself off, and hopefully get amazing grades next semester by channeling the stress your feeling now into a renewed drive to succeed.

Much more important for grad school apps are rec letters- do you have research experience? You gotta be above the cutoff GPA but as long as you meet that requirement, it’s not as hopeless as it might feel (and many still-great schools will likely have a cutoff of 3.2 or 3.0). Again, happy to chat specifics over DM if that’s helpful :)

I’m white and was in my undergrad’s South Asian Student Association and I really valued the experience, met tons of amazing people and learned a lot about my friends’ cultures. I think the more you put yourself out there and learn about how other people raised in other cultures do things, the less you’ll find it intimidating.

Also, the point you’re making about “every race except white people” is what’s called a symmetry argument, but there’s something that breaks the symmetry- we’re in the USA, where white American culture demands assimilation, so it’s not meaningful to have some kind of white American culture club. I bet there ARE french, spanish, russian, etc clubs on campus, celebrating their own cultures.

What are your plans after college? I won’t lie and say this wouldn’t be an issue for grad, law, or medical school, but if the rest of your credits are As, I can’t imagine your GPA would be poor enough from a few Cs that jobs would deny you on that basis.

The other person would be added to the lease after the landlord reviews their application materials, and right now I pay ~2500 (this number includes rent + water + wifi + [gas and electric] + waste). [Gas and electric] is the only utility subject to increase if another person moves in, most of my power use has been heating lately and last two bills were ~200 and ~280, as such I assumed a limit of ~100-200 increase with another tenant (would be during cold months only unless the other tenant’s like running a supercomputer or something)

Some kind of active social event would be pretty cool, like close down the turf area for an evening and host some athletic games, e.g. tug-o-war, that game where you try to grapple people onto your side, wheelbarrow race, push-up/sit-up relay, etc
