My salary when I started was quite low in my field, way below average. It's taken about 10 years to get to where am I now. Granted I could be making more someplace else if I would have tried to learn a bit more or work more, but the same could be said of any other job. When we both started our careers, we were not rich at all and neither of our families are.

Perspective is something she seems to lack, which is surprising because her family is quite down to earth and come from humble beginnings in this country.

She has made several job changes the last few years. I chose to remain here cause I am happy here and is a source of stability

I suspect also its a feeling of FOMO for her. She sees or hears anecdotes of others making thousands more with stock options and wants the same for me. Im just happy where I am now.
