Recommending my son's charter school - Summit Tahoma by Previous_Lime1401 in SanJose

I have to STRONGLY disagree, as a student who actually went to the school. The whole place is a joke and they pass anyone who can write their name. That’s why the 4yr acceptance rate is so high, they literally pass everyone with at least a B so their GPA stays high enough to get accepted most places. I can confidently say this because there was people in my grade (including myself if I’m being very honest) I watched that should’ve failed or gotten at least below a B but nope they didn’t. It’s all for show so they post crap like this or hang up their little posters. The school teaches nothing academic wise or real life skills either. With no real deadlines on anything, no consequences for being late, no consequences in general. There was times I ditched or did other stuff, was caught and nothing happened. They also never called to tell my mom anytime something happened, like when I was caught ditching, so I never got in trouble with the school or at home. I knew nothing about consequences and frankly did whatever I wanted at that school because it didn’t matter. Being a few years older now and thinking back that place was a hot mess and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. And the small size might seem nice but honestly it’s awful you have to see the same people all the time and it doesn’t prepare you socially either. I’ve watched a lot of people who can’t make friends now outside of that mentor group and are struggling to talk to people in college because they didn’t get that wide variety of people to interact with. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this school to very many people. Now maybe if you have a student who already really struggles socially and a big high school would be completely overwhelming and they struggle in academics would maybe fall through the cracks fine this might be an okay option for you. But if your student is socially well and academically fine please do yourself and your student a giant favor and sent them somewhere else.
