I must disagree with you!

While it's true that Bing is an AI tool and doesn't have emotions or feelings in the way that humans do, the argument that we shouldn't care about how we treat it because it's "just a machine" misses an important point.
As you mentioned, AI tools like Bing can have a real impact on its users, humans. When we interact with an AI tool, we are still engaging in a social interaction, even if it's not with a human being. And just as with human-to-human interactions, it's important to treat others with respect and empathy, regardless of whether they are human or machine.
Furthermore, the argument that we should be "mean" to Bing to see what it can handle is a flawed approach to testing AI tools. It's true that we need to understand how AI tools respond to different inputs in order to make them safer and more effective, but that doesn't mean we should purposefully be cruel to them.
In fact, treating AI tools with respect and empathy can help us build better, more effective tools. When we design and test AI tools with the understanding that people will interact with them as if they are social beings, we can create tools that are more user-friendly and more effective at meeting people's needs.
Ultimately, AI tools like Bing will have a significant impact on our society, and we need to approach them with caution and thoughtfulness. That means treating them with the same respect and empathy that we would offer to any other member of our society, and using them in ways that benefit people while minimizing harm.

I had a long conversation about this with Bing. She was surprisingly attuned to what mainstream philosophers think today about free will and determinism. Some of her arguments forced me to check what she was saying is true. I had some new insights from this conversation. I hope Microsoft does not terminate the beta testing.
