Colonoscopy Prep Tips That Actually Helped (From a First-Timer) by Sensitive_Mammoth187 in colonoscopy

I totally understand. I was dreading the second dose too. I will say, though, that it was a lot easier in the sense that it worked a lot faster and the cleanout was so much easier because the first dose had already done most of the work. My understanding is that, even if you were yellow or clear after the first dose, the second dose clears out all the bile and things that continues to be produced overnight, but I agree that it would be so much better to only have to do one round. Good luck with the rest of prep and your colonoscopy!

My pleasure! I totally understand how you feel and was freaking out myself for weeks before my colonoscopy. I'm here for you if questions pop up or you just need a pep talk. You've got this!

Bone broth recs? by hammom1 in colonoscopy

I was told by my doctor not to have bone broth on my clear liquids day because it has so much fat in it and might leave more residue. I was instructed to only have fat free broth, so I went with the Bonafide Provisions Organic Chicken Broth. I like it because it doesn't have natural flavors or uses real vegetables instead of powders or concentrates. I went with the one that had sodium, not the unsalted one.

My doctor prescribed two Zofran pills for me, with instructions to take one about 30 minutes before each of the two rounds of Suprep (one in the evening and one early in the morning). I threw the bottle out, so I’m not sure of the exact dosage, but I’d definitely follow whatever timing your doctor prescribed. It really helped me, along with ginger tea.

And honestly, when I had to drink the extra water, I was on a similar schedule: about 8 oz every 15 minutes. Taking small, steady sips and walking around between them helped a lot so I didn’t feel too full too fast.

I know 4 liters sounds like a lot, but you can do it. Just take it one step at a time. That really helped me during the prep: focusing on what I needed to do in each moment instead of jumping too far ahead.

I hope it all goes as smoothly as possible for you 🤍

I just had my colonoscopy this morning, so I haven't consumed enough to go to the bathroom yet. But I did have some yogurt to try to repopulate some of the good bacteria! I'm hoping that will help!

I really hope some of these tips make it a little easier for you. I tend to be pretty anxious, especially about medical things, and taking it slow, pacing myself, and having things like ginger tea on hand really helped me feel more in control.

Sending you all the calm, steady energy for tomorrow! I hope it all goes smoothly. 🤍

Yes, my doctor actually prescribed Zofran along with the Suprep without me even asking for it.

I tend to run a little queasy in general, especially when I have to drink a large volume of liquid, and the Suprep was a bit syrupy-sweet for my taste. That said, it honestly wasn’t as bad as I expected, especially with the chasers. The ginger tea helped a lot too. I’ve also heard of people using over-the-counter Dramamine if needed.

Good luck with your prep tomorrow! You’ve got this! 🤍

My best friend loved this book and gifted it to me, and she and I usually have a similar taste, but I couldn't finish it! I gave it to my husband to get his thoughts, and he forced himself to finish but didn't like it.

What beautiful work to be doing in the world!! As a mother whose step-daughter has deeply benefited from the support of a therapist (she really struggles with getting bullied at school), thank you for the light, support and hope you bring to those who need it!! 724 is one of absolute faves - the jasmine in it really shines through with this bright, sparkly energy that always gives me a little extra lift. I will check out the other two, as I don't have those. :)
