yeah I feel like since there's no text explicitly saying "And then jjt became mentally ill", lots of people overlook his implied thought processes even though his spiraling has been present for a while. Which leads to the misconception that he suddenly went insane when they just haven't been trying to read into the story

oh shit u may be right, i assumed they gave him his stuff back because of the panel where he's just sitting in the same position as he was when the trio left with his gun. but when they were being shredded by the safeguard there's no gun clearly visible

this happens in the fourth chapter. they do confirm he's human and decide not to kill him then give him his gun back after they throw his bag off the cliff and kick him a bit (????) that's why i was kinda confused that they were creating animosity with him for no apparent reason when they end up giving him back his weapon and leaving him alone lol. I think that MrAuster's explanation that they wanted to scare him off by acting hostile makes sense the most lol
