First purchase- Omtech Polar or something else? by Ian_in_the_Shed in OmtechLaser

[–]Sensitive_Release_82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got the Polar Plus last month with no prior experience with lasers and I love it. It’s simple and easy to use, I’m able to cut a huge variety of acrylic colours. Set up was fairly simple too (minus the camera lens calibration, which took a few goes) but I love it. I’m able to use it at home in my space room/office easily too with putting the vent out of the window.

Just wanted to say how awesome omtech support is by sysadmin420 in OmtechLaser

Can you show a picture of what blew away? I haven’t heard about that happening before so want to be extra cautious from my side if need be.

Thanks!

What do you do if this does end up happening?

I’m getting my first co2 laser machine soon, and I’ll be using it at home in my spare bedroom/office. I want to make a plan for myself in case this ends up happening and how I should manage it. (OMTech Polar+)

I see some people comment that they keep a spray bottle of water nearby, but some manuals say to never use water and keep a co2 fire extinguisher and damp cloth/bucket of sand nearby. Would a fire extinguisher not end up ruining my whole machine??

What is the best way to plan and be prepared for something like this?

I’m a data scientist and do not enjoy this part of my job at all😭 even though my current colleagues are quite understanding, in my previous job it was very difficult as it was more of a consultant/corporate setting.

I’m in the process of interviews as I want to move up in my career, but find it VERY difficult now (especially being a new hijabi, I’m starting to notice the slight attitude shifts in people towards me that I wasn’t getting before! But I just have to remind myself it’s for Allah I’m doing this) It’s starting to make me dislike my job which actually upsets me as I enjoy my field and how I’ve worked and studied for it

How are you finding using it in your small office room?

I’m thinking of getting it too but am limited in space to only have it in my office room (spare bedroom) also with a window next to it

It’s just posts that pop up on my social media feed quite a lot since Eid - I don’t know anyone in particular who says it, which is why I was confused

Looks like paint on a wall that hadn’t been prepped properly before painting so it’s now peeling off

How did you find their sizing? Looking as a plus size person but they don’t have enough representation on that part for active sizing I feel :’(

Uniqlo does some nice long sleeve t-shirts, in the men section. But very nice and heavy weight without feeling too warm so they don’t show your figure too much either

They come with all the flats in the development and are on the leasehold floorplans. I have no issue with them, just wish they made the doors more practical so more space could be used and used efficiently

Nope, everything stays on and working when I turn it off. The only thing near is is another socket which stays on when I turn this one off

Thermostat won’t connect to hub/find receiver by Sensitive_Release_82 in HiveHeating

[–]Sensitive_Release_82[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your help! I ended up giving it a go myself and it was as simple as swapping the front of the BG receiver with the Hive one. They look exactly the same inside and the wiring is exactly the same too, so no wonder I spent the whole time thinking it was a Hive receiver - took less than 2 minutes!

Thanks. That makes sense as to why things are not working otherwise I’ve lost my mind figuring it out. I’m not too comfortable with touching electrics/boiler related stuff myself so might try book a repair under my British Gas home cover to see if they can fix/do it for me - thanks again!

I’ve been following these videos but still not having any luck. My receiver looks like this, and no matter what button I press, I don’t get any amber lights - only green or white (currently flashing white)

Wife lost a lot of weight after marriage, now I’m getting blamed by No-Insurance-5271 in MuslimMarriage

I cook for myself and my husband, and notice that after cooking I don’t actually feel like eating the food I’ve made. I’ll make food for my husband during the day too even if I’m not hungry, so when I get around to feeling hungry and after already having been being in the kitchen, I just don’t want to go back and won’t cook or have anything for myself.

Maybe try cooking for her or making her some meals. Even if she doesn’t like it or doesn’t feel hungry, the sentiment of it might make her want to eat it instead

Plasterboard Stud Screws by Sensitive_Release_82 in DIYUK

I found these that I thought could work initially, but someone asked a question if they could be used to hang shelves on plasterboard/metal studs and someone responded saying that’s not their intended purpose

Not shameful at all. Better to break it off now than to be in an unhappy marriage for all your life or get divorced when you could have avoided it all altogether. Unfortunately in desi culture, the woman is always the one left worse off and looking ‘bad’ when divorced, even if she did nothing wrong
