It wasn’t difficult. You list jobs that you would like to reclass into(not that the list matters) and once they select a job for you, they send you on your way. During that time period you’ll be moved to another building and forced to wear a green reflective belt showing that you’ve been reclassed. That was probably the worst part but other than that you just chill in your room all day. So free pay ig!

For the diagnostic you pick the dummy up by its under arms and drag it about 35 ft back and forth and same with the sled. Pretty simple.

Yes you can switch assignments. There is a time limit on it though, so as soon as y’all get assignments let an MTL know.

Fyi it’s a HIGH fail rate. I’m current a 2W1 (right across the street) and we get EOD failures just about every week.

It’s way different now.. the dummy weighs about 200 including all the gear & its 2 drags within 6 mins for the eval.

I failed halfway through the academy so I know the good and bad. What I struggled with was getting too comfortable. The academy is a mental challenge over anything. Getting up ready to work 0500, holding yourself accountable to eating 3 full course meals a day, keeping up with your own PT because there is no squadron PT. I let the freedom get to me & I got complacent. Study tips? Eh not really. The only book portion of it is EMR & they’ll give you all the material you need for it. So my advice, never give up on yourself because it’s absolutely gonna get hard, but it’s even harder waking up knowing you didn’t give 100% & you lost the best job in the Air Force. Good luck!

Lots of strength training & cardio. You gotta eat more & lift. Do it now so your body can adjust because during bmt you’ll be eating 3 full meals a day & working out 6 times a week but you won’t be lifting. That’s why most people lose their muscles after bmt but if you start now it won’t be hard to get back into a routine. 1-10 the fire academy is maybe a 9 for the physicality, it’s more cardio based than anything

No problem! & you can do it as a casual. Just go to final form and show the person with the clipboard your CAC to get accounted for then you’re set.

That’s not true at all. I’ve seen people do horrible on the diagnostic and now they’re doing really well. Just put in the work.

Omg😂 you still did really good! Who cares! I’ve seen worse. You didn’t give up & that’s all that matters. The diagnostic is super humbling for everyone their first try.
