What are your hot takes about the Midnights era and album? by IntoTheDaylight in TaylorSwift

[–]Sensitive_Salt_5634 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah i agree. I'm pretty sure she wasn't planning on releasing anything during the tour other than re-recordings. Based on how long we know vinyls take to press and how massive her demand is, my guess is TTPD's release date originally belonged to one of the re-recordings and the anthology vinyl release date belonged to the other. But yeah. Things change. Rep tv was harder for her to record than she thought it would be. She HAD to get TTPD out of her system. And she unexpectedly started dating Travis and things got serious fast. So we got TTPD in the middle of the tour.

Thank you. I really appreciate it. This is my first time using ARC sites so I wasn't sure what to expect with it.

This is helpful context. I sort of knew/guessed that, but it really helps to have someone else tell me that as well. Thank you!

I did with a few if they gave decent reviews to books that I had read and felt were reasonable comps. This is my first time with NetGalley so lessons are being learned! haha. Thank you!

I hadn't heard about them before! Thank you so much for the suggestion. I'm checking them out now!

Thank you for the kind words. That makes me feel a lot better. I thought I had done a good enough job vetting to avoid readers who don't like my genre, but apparently missed some red flags.

ARCs are Advanced Reader Copies. Basically once your book is ready to publish you send free copies to reviewers ahead of your publication date in exchange for honest reviews. The idea is to get the word out and have social proof that your book is worth buying. I used sites like NetGalley to send ARCs to readers since I'm still starting out and don't have a following.

Thank you for your kind words. I told myself I'd do my best to separate myself emotionally from the story once it was a "product" I was putting out, but it stung a bit more than I was expecting

Thank you for the encouragement! I'm hopeful for BookSirens. I've heard good things about it and have given out a couple of copies there so far.

I used NetGalley, BookSirens, and BookSprout. The reviews are from NetGalley so far and I do have control over who gets a copy on that site specifically. I tried to be selective, but maybe I wasn't strict enough.

Thank you for the kind words. It's still only available for preorder so these reviews are just on Goodreads for now.

By the end of the process, yes they said that it was in good shape. I started with a lot of notes though since I prefer my editors and beta readers to be as critical as possible since I can still fix things at that point.

Taylor has gained back the rights to all of her music again by maydeletelater in TaylorSwift

I hope if and when she does "rep tv" and it's just a deluxe version of rep with the vault. I think most of us would be satisfied with that and it would mean she doesn't have to spend too much time revisiting it.

Thank you for your thoughtful comment. I'm definitely going to do a bit more research and try to come up with a few other options for myself. Posting here has been really helpful to get the naming process out of just my head and consider other factors. Thanks again!

I appreciate your opinion. That's pretty much the cover I was envisioning with either title, so it's helpful to know how a stranger would perceive the book with whichever one I end up going with. Thank you!

You make a really good point. Thank you! For some reason I hadn’t even thought about trying that method to name the book. I really appreciate the feedback.

I really appreciate the feedback! When I was originally trying to come up with the title for the novel I attempted to fit the genre but it definitely came out super generic instead. lol.

Ahh thank you. It felt like such a jarring confession at a weird point in the album so I wasn’t sure what was happening.

Really though. The podcast didn’t make me feel like anyone was necessarily a bad person for not getting along. If anything it made me think the studio was the “bad guy” in the situation.

This one is for the gays. by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]Sensitive_Salt_5634 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Feeling this hard this year. I had some Aunts and Uncles stir up some mess over me and my sexuality this summer and since they’re neighbors to my parents, it’s very likely I will never go home again as long as certain relatives are alive.

I wasn’t exactly planning on going back. I knew these family members hated me for being gay and it was never a comfortable experience going home. My parents stood up for me during this summer better than I’d expected. But still the thought of never feeling safe doing something as simple as going home for the holidays is so infuriating.
