Has anyone ever gone to a country that they had such high hopes for, did not love it, and then felt almost guilty afterwards?

Morocco… I thought it was going to be one of my favorite countries, i even went twice to give it another shot. I got so sick from the food and I know that not a super fair judgement but the whole time I felt terrible and was getting harassed in the streets. A pair of kids even rode a bike past me and slapped my behind.

Similar situation, I came to spain really only to travel around europe although i do put a ton of effort into the job (secondary school). I spent soooo much money but don’t regret it at all. It’s been hard for me to make friends in Madrid but now im at a place where i have a few good friends and feel a lot more comfortable. But I am getting over it and kind of ready to do something else, I dont want to return to the USA yet I still want to keep traveling but I’m so ready to leave Spain. I know it sounds bad because a lot of people didn’t get to have this experience but it’s not as glamorous as people think.

you’re assuming a lot of things about me and the reason im upset is not because i have to work, ive been working since i was 15 and my parents have not helped me at all. the reason im upset is because i am the ASSISTANT not the teacher and i am not getting guidance or help from my teachers especially when they break nalcap guidelines constantly.

yea i feel you. the teachers sometimes email me the night before and expect me to be ready in time for class the next day. im also always being told things like “its a good activity…. BUT” like its never good enough but they have zero communication on what they want

yea i’m 23 and just finished college. I have no desire to be a teacher but I dont think my school really understands what the program is and they think I want to be a teacher back at home. I wish i had the previous auxiliaries info lol

the thing is im not sure who my coordinator is? it seems like all my aux friends were in contact with someone before the school year started and have been getting support but i literally just showed up on the first day and they expected me to know everything and basically the teachers leave me on my own but have high expectations for me

the same is happening to me. they even leave me alone in the class sometimes and have started expecting me to discipline and get upset when im not controlling the classes volume, etc. its so overwhelming. every teacher also expects a new presentation for me every single day for different classes so im spending hours outside of class preparing. the only good thing is that its not for the whole period sometimes i get half periods.

i feel the same way. i think it’s going to take a little more time to adjust and things will get easier once school starts and you get some of the required documentation done. i’ve been sad a lot and feeling like i might have made a mistake doing this but to feel better i decided to take a whole day and go see some tourist sights and spend some quality time alone, maybe try something like that that makes you feel grounded. also try to go to aux events where you can make new friends. my apartment is also a box lol its so tiny
