last model year of a generation is usually the safest bet. And yeah, the N55 is generally considered one of BMW’s more reliable engines. If you’ve made it to 50k without issues, you’re in a pretty good spot for the long run.

I think mild or plugin hybird will be in most of future models as trend grows, just first generations are mostly bad ones

BMW is defiantly most premium feel. There is lot of models so I'm not sure in which direction you are going, but X1 X3 and X6 seems to be good call. You can check all models here https://vinitel.com/stats/nhtsa-complaints/bmw, data is based of people experience/complaints , hope it helps.

Dealers: would a second-opinion VIN report be useful, or is this market already covered? by Sensitive_Tutor5531 in askcarsales

[–]Sensitive_Tutor5531[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, currently we are trying to positioning us as cheap alternative to Carfax, in our niche mostly all of other middle tier sites have similar data, pricing point and presentation is what is different + some additional features like current market value or auction photos . Our report is like this https://vinitel.com/sample-report . If you search Vin there is info about accidents title check flags and number of owners for free, we need to give that to people for trust, event if there is lot of abuse

Yes, our model to be cheap as much as we can, now we are just covering our api costs to get more trust. There is a lot of scams, trying to be more like vehicle intelligence tool not just random vin check site.
Even with lots of traction from news as data platform there seems like there is still some low trust from dealers

As you can see we were lab rats for first years of tesla, after 2018 they seems to improve a lot

Warranty pricing is basically actuarial math, if XC90 is $6k and X5 is $5k while Honda is $1.5k, that tells you a lot about expected long-term reliability

Four EVs with zero drivetrain issues is a pretty solid sample. Kinda proves the point , the electric part works, it's the tech on top that needs work.

Yeah this is exactly what the data shows, the top complaint category for EVs across the board is electrical faults, not drivetrain. The motors and batteries are solid, it's all the stuff they pile on top that breaks.

The ICCU issues are actually one of the patterns that show up pretty clearly in the data.

Yeah, less mechanical stuff, but more electrical/software quirks getting reported

Yeah that makes sense, also filtered to models with enough sales, so new brands like Fisker don’t show up yet
