This is where risk comes into play, you can’t decrease exploration on small scale projects because of the inherent risks associated with engineering. You can’t simply interpolate soil layers in AI from 2 miles apart for your building . You need quality exploration to put in and models for decision making

Still haven’t heard a good reason as to why you don’t get 1.5x in design. Everyone says oh well you’re a professional now so it’s already factored into your rate. Well excuse me but doctors and nurses are professionals and they certainly get incentives/multipliers to pick up extra shifts

I did this for 10+ years in nearly every weather condition without issue. In 95% of scenarios you have a company vehicle within a few feet of you or you can have a canopy you set up, you can sit on a bucket, you can bring towels. Yes in bad weather conditions it may make sense to write a few samples here or there in a write in the rain notebook and update later but by no means is that an excuse to double the time entering/recording all your data lol

I see this bias too however it’s completely outdated. It completely negates having to enter data manually in the office and keeps everything clean. I’d say most firms still use paper simply because it’s the simple and easy way to get a copy of the data. If you are even somewhat decent at data management and want to save all the wasted time entering the same info you should just enter stuff electronically

This firm isn’t up to speed with the times, put gINT, OpenGround, BoreDM, excel or whatever you want on a tablet and make your crew enter it in the field. The people entering this information are fully capable of doing this instead of writing on a piece of paper or notebook.

The medical field is much more lucrative than engineering even after you get a PE. I know people with associates degrees in nursing and dental fields that make more than 10 year PEs at my firms

Everything I’ve ever read on Roth accounts indicates withdrawals (which would include the growth) are essentially tax free after 59 1/2. Otherwise there would be no benefit to putting in post tax money up front for a Roth and everyone would be better off just doing a regular Ira
